He is an assistant coach not a head coach.

He is to good for the Islanders. He will trade teh pick for the rights of like Rolston or something like that
- kasperrko

Yes because the Islanders have traded so many of those other top 5 picks they've had.

Other than JT, I'd argue that Grabner has put max effort this year in every game. He's all over the place and is a big part of the PK.
- BringBackBalky

Agreed. If his linemates wanted the puck as badly as he does on every shift, we'd be in better shape, imo.

Just saying that is all. I have no faith in Garth and Wang what so ever. they will find a way to screw that up some how

Id agree with you there and he has played much better then he did last year but he still has that problem of not being able to finish... anything. With the chances he gets he should be leading the league in goals. I think he would be best suited for a 3rd line, 2nd powerplay and 1st penalty kill guy.

All kidding aside, everything I see/hear about him makes me think he's almost as can't miss as JT. Plus his daddy is the asst coach for the Brooklyn Nets so he'll feel right at home.

define "shoo in". That's putting alot of faith in prospects and a couple players that are playing but are far from consistent. One of them is being scratched tonight bcs he's been invisible for 5 games. It's easy to fill a line up with players that have never sniffed the NHL and say, "Wow, look how great we are". It's also completely unrealistic as well.
- Cptmjl

stop picking fights....shoo-in was in quotes bc thats how they are being projected.

you wanna nickel and dime me about ullstrom, fine, take him out. people is, whether you agree or not, the roster IS headed in the right direction and WILL have A LOT of prospects that will need to be traded.

I don't actually have a problem with the way they handle their drafting.

It's the other 364 days that are the issue.

dude I was talking about size who actually know how to play in the NHL relax. At least your Bailey has been looking pretty good
- kasperrko

Bailey looks great so far. He'll get better after few more game. I like that he shooting alot more.

You have to realize the difference between Bailey and KO.
Bailey was drafted in 2009 and brought NHL too early.

KO on other hand was drafted in 2004 and has no excuses.

Bailey still have huge upside, and im Afraid we have seen the most that KO has to offer at this point.

As for size, I would take a 6ft 190lbs skill player any day over just another size 6ft 4 220 avg player.

If isles going to win tonight its going to be b/c Nabby has strong game.
3-2 Isles win tonight. Tavares, KO, and Viznosky goals.

"they are being projected" What does this mean? Projected by whom and to do what? "nickel and dime" you? Just pointing out a fact that the guy is having a hard time staying in this horrible line up which says alot. Thats the hardest thing for players trying to transition from juniors/AHL to the NHL, consistency. Hopefully he finds it, I like him but he's far from a "shoo in" but IRONICALLY enough he's more of a "shoo in" then any other player you mentioned. If that's picking a fight you do it every other post in here. Just don't understand how you could put 5 guys that never played in the NHL and very well may never and say we have a great team. We'll be lucky if half those guys make it as B level players in the NHL even when you don't need to be much of a player to crack this line up.

PA Parenteau sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled hockey ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, PA punched the devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn't stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month

all joking aside...plug in the "shoo-in" prospects....nino, strome, reinhart, mayfield (?) (grabner should be there, not sure why he was left off)

leaving tons of quality prospects/current players available and it is pretty solid roster.

at that point its:

MM-JT-Nino/?
Grabner- Strome- Nino/?
Martin/? - ? - Ullstrom
? - Cizikas - Martin/?

Reinhart-?
Hamonic- Mayfield
?-
?

- LetsGoIsles

Again, it looks good on paper but you still have many many holes. Only 10 players up there. Nino Strome as much as we like to believe they are the Real Deal still havent proved a thing in the NHL. (Do I like Strome. Yes very much). NINO? Still Has to prove it to me.

Nor have Mayfield and Reinhart. And I'm a firm believer that they will eventually be quality NHL "D" men but it's speculation at this point. And we have to fill the missing spots with other Prospects. Its tricky business.

The major ingredient missing from our forwards is "Quality Size"

Forget about Boulton. He's old and gone next yr.

Do you realize our biggest forward right now is KO! @ 210 lbs!

Nino has some size. But will he be aggressive enough & use that size?

Brock Nelson has some size but most of our size is in our future "D".

I guess that could work but I'd like to see more aggression and size up front.

Your line up is a start. But its still has few yrs to develop & a lot of question marks.

Despite how Islanders fared especially in February. We performed effectively during the draft for the past five years but failed with some picks we chose such as Okposo. I strongly feel that this is the future lineup we will look at in Brooklyn.

Moulson Tavares Strome
Bailey Nielsen Nino
Ullstrom Nelson Grabner
??? ???? ?????

Hamonic Reinhart
Macdonald Pedan

I see Strome, Nino, Nelson, and Kabanov all busted.

If Nielsen is still our 2nd line center by the time we move to Brooklyn I'm going to enjoy some nice 12 gauge buckshot for breakfast on opening day.

KO was drafted in 2007. His first full season with the Isles was 2008-09...the same as Bailey's first season.
No one has suggested to add size just for the sake of size, they've suggested to add skill with size.
