There may be no job security in hockey, but there sure is plenty of job security on the Islanders. And that's because there is no accountability in this organization. Winning is not a priority for Charles Wang, so its not a priority for anyone else. There were guys (Nielsen) laughing on the bench in the third during a meltdown against the Canes resulting in another loss. That tells you all you need to know about the level of urgency and anger, as you put it, on this team. Its non-existent.

In other franchises, six years of bottom five finishes gets you fired. On the Islanders, it acceptable, provided the payroll is comfortably below the salary floor while the team is still "compliant" with the CBA through circumvention. On other teams, failing to produce costs you your spot on the roster. On the Islanders, it gets you a promotion.

Until you get the owner to start getting angry about losing and start holding people accountable for a lack of results, don't expect to see any urgency coming from the on-ice product. Its sad, but its the culture that CW has created. Only he can change it. Do you think George Steinbrenner would have ever accepted results like the Isles have had the past few years without making changes? Absolutely not.

NY media acting as if Nash is the greatest player in the NHL. He cant hold a candle to Tavares but because our team is utter crap he gets no respect.

Unfortunately it will not work. This team will not be a good team until Wang is out of power. Iwonder if the fans can over throw him now. We dont need him anymore our team is staying in New York regardless

Ullstrom hasn't done much in the last 5 gams to warrant keeping his spot but by that token, either has okposo or aucoin.

You can keep adding names to that list. Few, have been playing well enough to justify their Ice time.

The best thing I saw after the Canes game was Hamonic breaking his stick as he walked off the ice.

I agree with Dee — its time to get a little angry.

There is enough talent on this team right now — perhaps not a playoff team, but a team that should be avoiding these collapses, and at least battling within the mix.

Many people want to look at Cappy — and I do as well. The systems he is running are not working. They have not worked consistently during Gordon's, and his tenure. Notice Gordon has not been re-hired elsewhere. By the way — I like Cappy, but the job is not getting done.

Look at the PP. Someone correct me, but isn't Doug Weight is in charge of that? Outside that rough patch, its been on fire.

Look at the PK. Someone correct me, but isn't Brent Thompson in charge of that?
The PK has been amazing this season.

Perhaps a new coach would help to make things work. I am not sold on it being one of Thompson or Weight, but one of the two would likely be the interim in the event Cappy is let go.

For the record — a cup winner like Crawford is worth a look. I like the idea of someone who has been their who can perhaps command respect has a proven record. Larry Robinson would also be high on my list. I would consider Craig McTavish, Brent Sutter and Tom Renney. Some suggest these coaches would "never come to Long Island." I disagree. There are only 30 NHL coaching jobs available, and these guys are coaches, and want to work as NHL coaches.

As for trades — I think it is clear that too many of these guys are complacent. Kyle Okposo is primed to be traded. If packaged, he could yield a nice return.

NO not a whole lot. Its been to brutal to sit thru. I jump around from game to game.

Why was Reasoner benched the last game?

I didnt notice.

I get terrible feeds when the game is carried thru the NY feed.

No HD and you can barely read the numbers on the jerseys.

Say what you want about Ullstrom (I thought everyone on the third line played very well last game, personally), but if anyone here thinks Boulton is a better option, please go have your head examined.
