Well, it's not like we traded two first round picks for him so I don't think that'll be very likely. - Pomegrant
Did you really just try to defend ANYTHING that Lou did to a laughs fan. For shame. |

That's not what happened, if Parise resigned, then they wouldn't have resigned Poni. So they didn't offer Poni a contract during the whole Parise saga. During that time he jumped on an offer from Winnipeg. Parise hit the lotto, and by that time Poni was already off the market. - TheJerseyDevil1
Or maybe Zubrus is undergoing surgery and if that didn't happen we wouldn't have needed Poni. |

Just when it got quiet around here with the Kings, Wild and Sabres trolls back in their holes. |

You can argue whether we NEED him or not, but Lou just said that he really wanted to resign Poni this offseason but was waiting on the Parise decision before he could make an offer |

That fourth could have been used along with Tallinder to net a 6th rounder. Much safer trade. - rmdevil313

This is fantastic news, loved Poni on this squad, certainly even better once Zubrus makes his return in a month or so. A 4th and a 7th (in 2014) for this kind of guy is certainly a bargain, besides, who here doesn't think Lou will get us more picks as the season rolls on? Severely doubt he is okay going into the deepest draft in recent memory with only what is it, 4 picks now? No, someone's going to be moved down the stretch.
I've been meaning to throw this one out there, with how well the Ducks have played thus far does anyone think we make a move on any of the big 3 there now? Seeing as how Getz and Perry are both UFA's after this season. Trade for one and require an extension as part of the trade perhaps? |

As for the acquiring picks, I don't know how much we have to offer that we see as expendable. I'm sure Lou's going to want to keep at least one extra Dman for playoff injuries.
To the Ducks part, I'd be even more shocked than I was when we traded for Kovy if something like that happened. The only one I can see fitting here in NJ is Perry, because we are already too stocked at center for Getzlaf or Ryan. I've heard rumors that if the Ducks had to keep one of them, they'd keep Perry over Getzlaf, so it'd be extremely hard to swing. |

so when we're healthy.. who's the top line LW? Zubrus? Poni? Butler? Matteau? Henrique?.. Loktionov?
Good, solid move. Not the top line winger we'd like to have, but he fits seamlessly and brings size and experience.
Zubrus-Zajac-Kovalchuk (i think they'll eventually get it going)
Elias-Henrique-Clarkson
Ponikarovsky-Josefson-Butler
Carter-Gionta-Bernier
darn good lineup. Butler's speed makes him stand out over Sykora (who was a healthy scratch deeper into the playoffs).. If he can continue to learn and master our system, he could really create problems for other teams. Sykora was easy to handle for the most part.. he just had a way of being in the right place for someone to feed him the puck and he'd rip that wrister.
Maybe Matteau continues to improve and land that LW spot? idk.
I doubt Loktionov lasts in the NHL. I have a vibe that he's like a Tedenby that plays center. My vibe is sometimes wrong, but usually right. Trust in the vibe. He'll be back in the minors in a month... wellll.. maybe not, forgot Zubrus is out.

i just don't see where Loktionov is going to fit, but he's worth a look. |

Got a point, we surely wouldn't trade away any of our top centers either. Who knows, if the Ducks drop off, since the 2 are UFAs after the season they may want to get something in return while they can. I'm certain they know they cant afford all 3 once contracts come due. |

NJ's more in the habit of developing all stars than trading for them. The Kovalchuk thing was a blip in the radar. Since the Anaheim boys did win a cup, I could see interest in Perry, but if I were the Ducks, I'd be looking to unload Getzlaf, not Perry.
Jersey should try to get one of Columbus' three 1st rounders somehow in case they end up winning the Cup this year so that they can forfeit the 30th and still draft in the first round. |

I'm sure signing, Brodeur, hedberg, our captain, and trying to sign Parise was easy for Lou.

He was going to need every penny though to sign Parise.
Zach knew he wasn't coming back to Jersey so why did he d**k us around? |

He's clearly trying to lower the value of the team for prospective buyers. Making the move to Quebec that much easier. |

I certainly agree. Also forgot CBJ had those 3 1sts. I only had this in mind because Lou isn't going to be around too much longer and I feel as though he wants to go out with Marty and he wants to go out with a bang, like signing another star. I don't feel thats the recipe to win for us, but somehow I see it happening since weve got cap space. |

Lou cloned himself years ago. I'm not concerned. |
