I don't know that you can say the're "successful" trades yet. Especially since one of them just happened today. - HonkFortheGoose
poni played well last year as a devil and was liked by teammates, he plays the style deboar likes, didnt give up much to get him and zubrus is out with wrist surgery
lou is doing what he feels will help the team win
the loki trade (for 5th) is a low risk high reward trade, he has the skill to be an NHL player now he just has to prove it

Oh, I know. Both trades make sense. But neither of them are the type of moves that would have helped the Sabres anyway, so I don't know why people are female doging.

My point is that both trades were for mid and late round picks but what they received back was a roster player and a borderline roster player with good potential even with the poopty attitude...
We couldnt give our players or picks away for a zamboni wheel tire pressure gauge

I know, the sky is falling. Everyone panic and start yelling that nothing is being done.
I'm just as frustrated as everyone else about the way this team looks, but at the same time, I'm not about to just give everyone away for nothing.

I'm frustrated too,
But don't we have enough borderline roster players?
I'm not saying we need Perry (although it'd be nice),
But we at least need some solid guys that can help
I don't think either of those guys are anything to write home about
They haven't made the playoffs since before the 04-05 lockout. I don't want to be them.
That's why there's 3 guys I wouldn't give up from our prospect pool. Girgensons, Pysyk, and McNabb. Anyone else is fair game IMO - HonkFortheGoose
I would hate to miss the playoffs 7 straight seasons. The funny thing is over the last 10 seasons they have only made the playoffs 1 less year than we have.

No but guys who have been early draft picks like Tangradi, and Ellerby have been traded for peanuts when we have guys like Mccormick and Ellis (I know not anymore) on the roster. I would like to see if a change of scenery would help these guys, apparently Ellerby has been pretty good so far

I really don't know why everyone is so focused on the guys we have playing on the 4th line.
NEWSFLASH!!!! They are not the problem!
The defense not being able to get the play out of our end, is a problem.
The relative lack of secondary scoring, is a problem.
Cody McCormick playing on our 4th line, is not a problem. It's the reality of the NHL. Every team has a guy or two that plays the same role that Cody does.
Not to mention that just because a guy was drafted in the 1st round, does not guarantee he is good. It means he used to be good. He could be an absolute trainwreck right now.
