How much will Corey perry command as a ufa? Love to see him as a pen. I don't know much about o Reilly's game but the pens have picks and d respects to give out and I'd hate to see them wasted on a rental. They do need a f upgrade for Sid then drop kunitz or dupuis to the 2nd line.
Malkin has always been a bit flaky and reminded me of kovalev. |

I'll never doubt Sid's abilities but leaving him with Dupuis and Boychuk/Tangradi/Jeffrey/Kennedy is asking quite a lot out of him. - Gunner Staal
Yea kuni has to be with sid until another legit winger is here |

TK/Tangradi/Jeffrey, plus a 2nd for possibly even 1st for O'reilly??? The kid is only 22 right? thats the kind of gritty hard working player we need not a hemsky...
then again i guess hes a center not a wing, and we need a wing... - JLT168
this isnt NHL13, adding more parts doesn't make the deal more appealing to COL |

yuuuuuup. He isn't what we need. We already have Sutter. If he can't play on Crosby's wing we don't need him. |

i absolutely love the wheeler idea. i think niskanen is a solid guy, but i would move him and a second for wheeler in a heartbeat. that is the kind of guy we need to acquire. not ultra stud, but young and above average talent wise. until that point, i just cant see moving kunitz away from crosby. he needs at least something on his line. |

Or that a guy who has in his best season to date scored less goals than Matt Cooke did last year, and reportedly wants a deal worth $5 million per year. |

He does make some pretty stupid plays. Its frustrating with that level of talent.
Im going with no on O Reilly BTW....and yeah the trades where the Pens package a bunch of crap together for Benz is getting stupid. |

they really are. those kind of moves just arent going to happen. our only real roster player who has any value to be moved would be niskanen, although i wonder what his worth is perceived as around the league |

The problem with Niskanen (whatever his perception might be), is that he is only signed for one more year and then a UFA.
NEWS ALERT: #Pens re-assign defenseman Dylan Reese to @WBSPenguins; Activate Letang and Niskanen from injured reserve http://pens.pe/YrSpGt
So... if both guys are in tonight, who sits? I would say Engelland, but Chris Neil is bound to do something stupid tonight. |

Headed out to the game now, hope the weather holds over the mountains. Malkin is in many ways the emotional leader and barometer of the team. He will never be completely disciplined, especially early on in the season. He does not get some calls he should and it frustrates him. I also think with the lack of size up front and strength on the boards our ability to cycle is someone limited. Kunitz bangs and creates space hence the reason he works on Malkin's line.
I would rather see Cooke on that line to get himself and that line going. |

Agreed on both. These wild trades do come from what shero has done in the past. No one is complaining of what he has given up since aquiring roberts, hossa/duper, guerin, kunitz, neal/nisk. I said this before but not sure if anyone even had seen it. |
