I doubt Winnipeg is in a rush to get rid of him though. - Gunner Staal
True. This might be a situation where an over payment is worth it, or at least more worth it than an over-the-hill soon to be FA, a soon to be FA who we cant afford to resign, or Hemsky(still a horrible idea NH). |

He also fits our cap structure better than a big ticket name. That trade would have a lot of the same markers as the one that brought Neal here.
EDIT: Shero would also like that he is American, right handed shot and a big body. 6'5" 205lbs - Rawdog9755
Problem is, he also fit's Winnipeg's cap structure well. Unless the deal really helps them out, I can't see them moving him.

Anybody else notice that there were 2 games last night(NYR-BOS and Tampa-MTL) where a team was down 2 goals late in the 3rd and tied the game with 2 goals while the goalie was pulled? Its rare to see that ever let alone 2x in one night. |

It is semi interesting that they havent extended him yet. Not sure why they are waiting when they only have 10 players signed for next year at a cap hit of 33mil. |

In regards to Malkins start, I said that I am not concerned. I hate to play the lockout card, but I think that it is still effecting a lot of the league. In Malkins case he had played almost 40 games in the free range, wide open KHL. Sure he is already in game shape, but how much of his NHL game did he change to adapt to the KHL that he hasn't been able to reapply at this point.
This whole season is very likely going to be an anomaly for a lot of players and teams. |

I think the change in rink size definitely plays a factor but that should be a non issue at this point. I think the fact that his LW has 0 goals on the year is the bigger problem. I think he is making his initial read to Neal and if he isnt available he is trying to do too much. |

O'Reilly would cost too much, I wouldnt give up any of our prospect Dmen for him. Cooke could fill out that line for the time being. Maybe 3rd line scoring is what we should be looking for in the trade market.
14-87-9
18-71-24
48-16-46
10-27-25/17/15This is the glaring hole in our line up those 3 guys really dont fit in on this team. Jeffery and Boychuk are AHLers, and Tangradi may be the biggest waste of size and hands in the NHL.
Also it has to be said Vitale deserves more time. He has more heart, speed, and talent than Glass. Has anyone else wondered where this upgrade to Asham is, in Glass?Because he is clearly not an upgrade he is pretty hard to notice unless you are looking for him. Boychuk and Tangradi are garbage. The bad thing is for Jeffery is that he is not a 4th liner and never will be. 3rd or 4th line grit and scoring is what we need we will see a perfect example in Neil tonight of what this team is lacking. |

I wouldn't read a lot into that though... They haven't extended Bryan Little or Zach Bogosian yet either.

Could be. I wouldn't be opposed to putting Kunitz back with Malkin. And maybe slipping Boychuck in with Crosby and seeing how that works. The Crosby like relies less on the cycle and are more effective off the rush. Perhaps Boychucks speed with Crosby and Dupuis can create offense. |

Malkin's effort at times and his lack of discipline are very noticeable. It's driving me batty. That is the major disappointment. Both Geno and Neal get too frustrated and take stupid penalties too boot.

The story of Geno's struggles throughout his career. He's like the anti-typical Russian, his struggles are based on trying too hard.
I think it has gotten to the point where they need to put Kunitz back on that line, even if it's for a short term, just to get them settled down and playing well again.
Not sure who you put on Sid's line with Dupuis, but I have faith in Sid to play more consistently with a rotating left winger than Geno. |

I'll never doubt Sid's abilities but leaving him with Dupuis and Boychuk/Tangradi/Jeffrey/Kennedy is asking quite a lot out of him. |

Yeah... point taken...
I'll settle for a few shifts of Neal - Malkin - Kunitz maybe after PK's that Sid finishes up or whatever. |

If stats are important to players....and we know they are, it isn't fair to your franchise player to give him "pot luck" to play with.
I like the Wheeler idea. Right handed shot too!

He has speed and shows the ability to make smart passes. He wont win you any physical battles anywhere on the ice and has 1 goal in his last 38 NHL games. He was a nice option to try at no cost, but he is not the answer to the Penguins top 6 question. |

Thought his puck retrieval skills were pretty nice. I usually notice him in a good way. I wouldn't go as far as calling him "garbage". |
