Steckel led with this shoulder to Crosby's head. That is illegal. The only comparison between the two you can make is it involved two of the game's best players. That is it. While the play with Karlsson was unfortunate and you hate to see it, people who think that was deliberate or intentional are fools or idiots. They lack alot when it comes to the game. Every TV hockey commentator has said it wasn't intentional and it was a freak accident ... that Cooke shouldn't be blamed and many of them were his biggest critics two years ago. Shanahan said nothing to see here as far as Cooke. He should know because he played the game and has had a history with Cooke before.

Again, if this would have been Pascal Dupuis instead of Matt Cooke, no one would be blinking an eye on this one - it would be a freak accident. But since Cooke has a history, it has to be deliberate, even though his history is head shots, not slicing up someone's leg like Subban or Chris Simon.

Not to rehash the Steckel thing, but Steckel is 7 inches taller than Crosby. A shoulder to the head is unfortunately a natural collision. If Steckel is 6' 1", it's just a hard collision.

Sorry it happened ... wish him a speedy recovery, but you, like the rest who think this is Cook's fault, need a reality check.

Blame someone, blame the officials for not blowing a play dead seconds earlier. You want to blame Cooke and have him thrown out of the league, you may as well shut down the NHL entirely.

please point out where i said i blamed cooke? my comment was in reference to him saying that if sens fans were still pissed in 2 days, they were idiots.

you tell me i need a reality check? i tell you that you need to learn how to read.

see what i mean. you say that sens fans are idiots if they still say it's dirty in a couple of days....yet this clown is still whining about the steckel hit (which was as incidental of a play as what happened last night) over 2 years later.

It's funny, this exchanged proved my point. You said that all pens fans were whining about Steckel's hit, and when I said I didn't you called me a liar. Funny you get defensive when you get lumped in with Sens fans who are doing exactly what he said.

I'm done with this whole Cooke/Karlsson non-issue.

Sens lost their best player for what seems to be a long time... As we know too well, no fan wants that to happen, and with guys like him playing, the game is more fun to watch.

I hope he comes back quicker than expected.

he was lumping me in, he quoted my post. he said that I SAID THAT.

and fine, if you didn't claim the steckel hit was dirty, then i'm sorry for lumping you in. but you were in the VERY VERY SMALL minority of pens fans.

YEAAAHH, i'm sure it was bait, not just you being an idiot. i've read your past posts, and i have no doubt it wasn't a deliberate "bait" post.

You do realize the post you quoted pretty much was calling the Steckel hit unintentional.

So what's your point in being here? We all feel really bad about Karlsson. At least in recent history, I don't think there a fan base that understands just how bad it sucks to lose your best player.

I just watched the replay, its a tough call for me. Never been a fan of Cooke but I think to deliberatly try and pull this off would be difficult. To ride someone in the boards then try and stomp on their heel/foot just seems tough. An easire move would have been a slew foot, then again it's Cooke so it wouldnt suprise me.

Real curious to see where he plays. Sid or Geno?

Edit.... Prob Geno the way Sid's line is playing.

i replied to one guy, who said that if sens fans are still upset about this in 2 days, then they're idiots. i pointed out that 2 years later, there are still pens fans complaining about the steckel hit, and then some clown came in and proved my point.

i flat out said i didn't think the incident last night was intentional....but to call fans idiots because they're upset about it is just assinine, especially when idiots in your fanbase are still complaining about a clean hit TWO YEARS LATER.

People are frustrated, I understand that. I'll just let them vent their frustration as long as they stay away from the name calling and insults. Cooler heads will prevail and realize this was just a freak accident.

Unless of course you're a Rangers or Flyers fan, in which case Cooke had drawings in his basement and pictures of Karlsson with x's through them.

You're def right. The Cooke hit could go both ways, Id be pissed if I was a Sens fan and honestly I am pissed. Karlson is an up and coming star. I dont want to see top talent out. There are plenty of Pens fans still mad about Steckel. I think that one could go both ways as well. There are also Pens fans who are mad at Hossa and burned his jersey....WTF would you buy a Hossa jersey for in the first place? Same with Talbot. If you cant get passed him going after tripple the pay for the Flyers, you're an idiot.

Makes sense on Malkins line. Since he's more of a passer, Malkin and Neal seem liek a good fit.

Sports are like politics. Too often emotion and team identity get in the way of common sense.

We are all guilty to a degree, but we need to be able to recognize when we are doing it.
