I don't think getting a team's best defensive forward who also led their team in scoring at the age of 21 is the same mistakes the Leafs have been making.

If the Leafs had been making those mistakes all along, we would have had a championship or two by now.

- Aetherial

he isnt worth kadri + tho.. he isnt even worth kadri straight up imo.

defensively responsible forwards are great.. but not the most difficult to find.. if he was in the high 60-70 point range then we're talking.. but he isnt.

I would still move Kadri WAY before I would move Gardiner. The upside of Gardiner is more rare than the upside of Kadri IMO.
- Aetherial

I would think that Rielly makes Gardiner more expendable. In terms of talent up front with potential, Kadri is pretty much it right now. Obviously, I'd rather not trade any of those guys though...

One is known as a high point forward (Why Gagner was drafted so high) one is known as a defensive playmaker (Why he was outside the 1st round). Not comparable.
- AdamFrench

The suggestion is he's on a progressive upswing, I'm not sure he is. That's why I brought Gagner into it, though someone can turn around and say look at Gagner now, at a ppg. How much time did O'Reilly and Landeskog spend together last year?

So, what would we give for Ryan O'Reilly?

Would you trade Kadri straight up?

What you do Kadri + Percy or Blacker?

Would you trade Grabovski straight up?

What about Grabovski and a pick?

Would you do Gardiner straight up?

Would you do Gardiner + Ashton/Colborne?

I would probably do any of the above.

- Aetherial

None of the above

Oh im sorry, did you want Steckel?

The options are not Toews, Malkin or Stamkos. Sorry to break the news to you.

Totally agree, defensive fwds are available as UFAs etc, high end offensive talent rarely is moved.

Luongo would be a good fit in Toronto... he's the best goalie in the NHL right now... couldn't hurt.
- Scooby_Doo

No thanks, Reimer is gone for bit not forever, Even if hes gone forever I would rather Nonis dig up Vesa Toskala from Europe and resign him over Luongo.

Yep...I can understand some fans not wanting to give up what it would take to land him but to say we have no room/he's not what the leaf need is reaching at best.....

O'Reilly would be the #1C on the Leafs...

o'reilly has done nothing to prove he is a number one centre..

20min a game on the top line and only walks away with 55 points?

yeah.. i think he has alot to prove before i bank on him to my number 1

- Dozzer

Ryan O'Reilly 101 takeaways 34 giveaways first in the entire league at 21 in takeaways.

That is an insane percentage. If he was a Staal people would jizz their pants over him like the second coming. He outscored Stastny, Landeskog, Duchene, Downie, Jones, Hedjuk name any of their players he led them in points, top defensive player on their roster and is young as hell.

Unless he finds an extra gear in his production, we're trading for a younger version of Grabovski at a similar cap hit.

Brown is ready to return and Gunnarsson is close, so roster moves have to be made very soon.

What was Frattin's original knee injury last year? Meniscus tear?
