Heres a question.
What would you rather have:
A) 18th overall pick and a playoff spot
B) 5th overall pick, no playoffs again |

Honestly I'd be happy with either one. Either make the playoffs or get a top pick. This finishing 11th in the east kind of crap is the worst thing possible, IMO.
The top pick will help long term but getting some playoff experience (even a first round exit) would be good for our young team.
If I had to choose I would lean towards the playoffs for a few reasons. Mostly because I miss playoff hockey with my team, I'm tired of people always talking about how we're the only team post LAST lockout that hasn't made the playoffs, tired of a team starting hot and getting my hopes up and then fizzling out letting me down...but also because I do believe playoff experience is good for player growth, especially considering how young our team is. |

Personally A. Then hoping FA's think Toronto is a fantasically fantastic place to come. You know, warm winter and all.
Plus i think you can get good players between 15-20. Good role players, but still good at their role if you know what i mean. Clear as mud eh? |

I would love to see the playoffs even if they get stomped, but man Elias Lindholm (As per Mac's recent draft list)...we always wanted a top line two-way center right?
This is a dastardly conundrum |

Yes. Bieksa 1-2 on every team in the league.
Phaneuf 3-4 on any team in the universe including the North Korean Hockey League. |

Thats actually a very good point that is very rarely made here. If there are going to be a lot of buyouts and potential key free agents, making the playoffs and perhaps somehow winning a round, would go a long way to making this a tad more of a possible destination of choice. |
