Heres a question.
What would you rather have:
A) 18th overall pick and a playoff spot
B) 5th overall pick, no playoffs again - Gunslinger
A no question about it. Take 2008 draft year as an example. #5 overall Luke Schenn. # 17 J Gardiner # 22 J. Eberle .
Young team.. get the experience..plus you never know what could happen and you still may get a better player at 18. Now #1 or #2 vs #18 I would have to think about that. |

I would love to see the playoffs even if they get stomped, but man Elias Lindholm (As per Mac's recent draft list)...we always wanted a top line two-way center right?
This is a dastardly conundrum - AdamFrench
O'Reilly then might be a good gamble in a trade then. Would you say thats a safe comparable to Lindholm? I dont know much of him, but by your description they sound similiar.
Maybe making the playoffs, trading that pick with Mac or Gunnar and a poop prospect for O'Reilly might be the best thing, no? The problem with any trade involving O'Reilly means he has to evolve into a first line center or this will be a bust of a trade. |

Well Zibanejad who went 6th overall has never gotten as many points in the Elitserien in all two years he played there that Lindholm has in his 17 year old season and Lindholm makes Forsberg (Whom everybody wanted at 5th overall) look like poope. |

Agreed... i'd do it for a top 3 probably because of Jones/Drouin/Mackinnon but not a top 5
The last really good #5 pick was Kessel 7 years ago |

Very true.
Playoff experience is much more important than the 5th overall.
Top 2...different story. |

Esplen just posted a blog about the "Myths" and "Facts" about Bieksa. I encourage everyone to post some of their own "Myths" and "Facts" about Bieksa. Could be hilarious - As_I_See_It
Yeah, if you want to get banned within 2 minutes of posting any facts they don't like... go ahead.
Bunch of F idiots in the Canucks threads.
Yesterday's claim was Schneider's numbers supported him as a vezina candidate. When I pulled out some stats showing otherwise. The response was that I am a moron... because if you take out one bad game from Schneider then his numbers are as good as Luongo.
... I could not be bothered to point out that taking away 17% of a goalies starts kind of renders the stats not accurate. If they want to be THAT stupid. That is their prerogative. |

Nah they've already clumsily (frank)ed their line. It will be Drouin or MacKinnon, Moosehead vs Moosehead, who is the best?! The Big hype or the Big new hype!? |

Olli Jokinen, but 90 plus point Olli Jokinen. Kiddin, I've know nothing about this kid, only his wicked stat line in the Finnish league and that he's 6'2. Lindholm I've seen play, hence my hard on for him. |

Kerby Rychel or Curtis Lazar would not be that bad of a pick either in that range |
