No, Gardiner straight up.

Not worth more.

We have a 29 year old center on our second line making 5+, whose best year was 58 points.

I like Grabo but come on O'Reilly makes the leafs better.

He spends 3 pages ridiculing me then makes the exact same deal I had in mind (Except add Kulemin). Yet people call UG the sole unrelenting argumentative for the sake of argumentation
- AdamFrench

I was arguing against people saying 1st and Rielly for O'Reilly, saying that his spike in numbers wasn't worth that package.

I never said anything about your offer. Not that I'd do your offer.

Probably but it depends on what others are offering.

Maybe you give up Gardiner + some other prospect you can suck them into taking. We have a few forward prospects I don't expect much from.

Did someone say that? I don't recall seeing that suggested. In fact, I am not sure I saw anyone talking about the 1st OR Rielly, nevermind both?

So what happens when his ceiling is only 50 pts or doesnt perform again to his 55 points+ ? What happens if holzer and fraser drift off and dont play well?

Gardiner and a 1st +??....Gardiner and Kadri??...

U want a proven #1C u better be ready to pay the price...

- Fruitcakenipple

Understandable, but I wouldn't throw away such a valuable trade chip for a player that could be the next Matt Stajan. He's just not that good, of course he had a good year, it was a contract year. Notice he's trying so damn hard to land a big contract, because he knows how hard he had to play to get to that level and its a flash in the pan year. The Avalanche see this, I don't know why we're even discussing wanting to acquire this guy, clearly he has attitude problems, thinks hes better than he is, and we already have Grabo, Bozak, and Kadri capable of 2nd line duties.

Is Richards?

There are very few big, physical, 80+ point #1 centermen in the league.

If a miracle happens and the Leafs sign a #1, Grabbo is gone.

By next year, Kadri is promoted to #2, Bozak slides to #3 so that I don't have to hate him anymore, and the #4 spot is taken by any of the 7 guys we have who can play 4th line centre.

Buh-bye, Grabbo.

So if it happens a little earlier, I'm not particularly upset.

I said a mid-to-late first and a decent prospect for him(but I'd still be hesitant), somebody "agreed" with me saying a top-10 protected 1st and Rielly.

Not sure despres or sutter fits the bill for us. You gotta understand that the PENS want a guy like kulemin and kulemin can do some real damage with malkin surely together. Kulemin is an important 2-way player for us, former 30G scorer and you can already tell those 2 will rack up points big time. Despres or Sutter doesn't really give us something, like despres is a big boy but iunno if hes exactly worth it. Getting a young prospect like derrick pouliot would be worth it i would assume. Since both him derrick pouliot and Rielly are doing very good in the WHL. Just a thought

Well then what is your criteria for evaluating talent?

Does he need more than 1, 55 point season ... OK fine, then how come Kadri is untouchable?

If a 21 year old is the best defensive player and the leading scorer on a team, I would say that he is an outstanding prospect.

If you are going to worry about him becoming Matt Stajan, then what will it take to convince you that ANY 22 year old is good enough?
