Start with all Hawk fans under the age of 40. I'll bet you could find some after last night. - John Jaeckel
I bet you are right. My only worry is what management thinks. I am a little worried about all the stuff you have posted in the past about image and Stan's stubborness and being scared to act or winning trades etc...I agree though that getting a couple forwards who can hit and bang, plus have decent skill can really go a long way to help with the Cup chances |

Perry's a STUD. - philco28
If Stanbow was chasing J.P. Parise Jr. this past summer (supposedly), Corey Perry is a guy he should be all in up to his f'n earlobes on.

if the Ducks can only keep one of Perry or Getzlaf because of $, trust me Getzlaf is loading up the van and heading down the highway not Perry.

Center is the greater need maybe but Perry>>Getzlaf
I also hear the Ducks intend to keep Perry at all costs (and that is independent of Eklund's sources—I heard that last year). |

Perry is all around good, fights, hits, has a snipe of a shot and is a big body. But if the Hawks could get Getzlaf and it means saying see ya to Sharp, Im all in. Perry is a guy you dont let walk and I would be suprised if Anaheim felt differently. |

True Grit, great post. I always was a fan of Kane and Toews on the same PP. Kane throws the puck from the half wall dow to the goalline and Toews stuffs or goes cross crease which is a pretty high reward play. This gives Toews Multiple options. 1. Cross Crease play to whoever is there. 2. Stuff which at worst gives you a whistle to keep the play in the zone. 3. can find the third low man who pops out in the high slot. 4. Work give and go with Kaner.
It was simple and never was stopped in 2010 and in the 09 playoffs. - nickmo2699
This worked for a long time, but everyone around the league is on to it, and has been for quite a while now. To the point that they rarely try it anymore.
Bottom line is the PP (other than Kane) is stagnant; there's not enough movement. Keith and Seabrook have zero confidence and should be split up (or removed altogether) in favor of Leddy. They're trying, but Shaw, Toews, and Stalberg have yet to figure out the nuances of being a distraction/presence in the crease (they are off to the side and not impeding the goalie's view), and...shall I go on?...

But even if a team is on to it, the options become plentiful. Its hard to stop a multi headed monster. |

Is there any reason to believe they won't realistically keep both Perry and Geztlaf? Selanne and Koivu are also coming off the books so I can't see money being the issue. With the potential of losing 4 of their top 6 forwards I would imagine they'll make re-signing Perry and Getzlaf a priority.
On an equally interesting note, Fasth is a UFA this summer. I will be interested to see how that situation unfolds (I'm not suggesting Stan sign him). |

There is a better chance of Quenneville not mixing his lines ALL YEAR LONG then Bob Murray trading with this Hawks regime. I won't say NEVER, but it's 99.9999999999% definite it will NOT happen.

Getzlaf and Perry are UFA's after this season....fairly sure no trade would be required...but don't think they're going anywhere.

Only reason they would keep Getzlaf over Perry is because .....Perry would be too expensive and he would want to hit the open market.

I get that, but if the ducks are sitting there on the bubble, and Gezlaf Or Perry OR Ryan come on the block, tHe Hawks will be on the bottom of the list unless they blow the pants off of Bob Murray.
Ryan will have to be moved to sign both. Anaheim was one of those teams pushing for the cap to go down ASAP this year, so he won't keep all 3, and really can't. 1 will be moved, and the question is, IF it's Ryan, is it better to wait and maybe get a lesser package at the draft when teams know you can't keep all of them, or at the deadline when teams will be desperate to add big pieces for a playoff run. |

In a perfect world they would like to keep all 3...including Ryan. In the real world I would say the chances are only about 65% that happens.
As far as Fasth....BTW he looks really good, but at 30 years old he will look to make some money now most likely.
He was signed for a $1 million and talk I heard was they are currently trying to resign.

The only one I see available now is a vast over payment for O'Reilly in both salary and probably whatever Colorado is asking.
That would be a pill to swallow but makes the top two lines legitimately the top two lines especially if the dude continues to win 54% at the dot.
Don't think he deserves near 5 million but if there is anyone to be had that seems like the best avenue.
Not at all advocating a trade or even suggesting they do so but I would not be irritated or disappointed or surprised if they went that direction. |

I like the idear of Seabrook or Kieth in front on the PP. They are used to the physical responsibilities of doing so on defense. They might outperform there for that reason. - DirkGraham
Always though seabrook might be good up front on the power play standing in front of the net and i think he would know how to properly shadow a goalie |

I agree other than kane, toews and possibly bolland kreuger has maybe the third best hands on the team and seems to be the logical choice in the shootout
Either that or go with the guy with the best and most accurate shot |

What about a trade of Sharp for O'reilly straight up?
would this be fair to both sides? |
