Really hits you when you start calling the players 'kids', doesn't it?

When you trade 26 year old, all star level players for 18, 20 and 23 year olds, you're going to have to deal with growing pains from relying on youthful players. The Flyers dealt with the growing pains with Richards and Carter, and decided to go in a different direction.

A 19 year old Sean Couturier is not going to be as developed as a 26 year old Mike Richards.

As for the Stanley Cup, sure Richards and Carter played roles in the Kings' title. But playing bigger roles were Jon Quick, Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty and Dustin Brown

Well, now, you know that, and I know that but somebody's bucking for a promotion,
It's probably that pederast Hanrahan, I don't know....All I know is, if I don't go back with something you and your son-in-law are going to be the scapegoats of the week.

Yep. And when I look up a guy on NHL.com and realize, I was in boot camp when this kid was born.

Tim Wallace from the Hurricanes. Guarantee that McGinn's return that night was why there was no fine or suspension.

40 playing professional hockey is kind of crazy. I am 36 and play one day a week. I ache for days after that. Just shows how these guys are in such great shape to take the pounding they put there bodies thru.

Lines I'd try when Hartsamania gets back:

Comments:
I am assuming the McGinn-Schenn-Jake line sticks for a bit.

Breire needs to be a center. Find a way to get him in the middle. This crap with him on the wing has been tried and tried and he is always more effective in the middle.

If Captain Primeau could shift from a scoring role to shutdown center, Cooter can play that role in his second year in the league. Let him center the 4th line. Make sure he gets some PP time to soothe his young ego (though he doesn't seem to be the kind of player that gets caught up in that stuff).

Talbot and Read can play anywhere...take advantage of that.

Sit Knuble for a few games. I like the guy, but he was brought in to fill in for Hartsy and he hasn't really been doing more than being a body on the ice.

Harts-Giroux-Read
Simmonds-Briere-Talbot
McGinn-Schenn-Jake

i love that (frank)ing movie. the whole thing is gold. 2 things i never understood:

1. why does fletch only smoke in 1 scene - when he's looking for sally ann cavanaugh?
2. why does fletch have to climb out the window in alan stanwyck's suit from Gail's cabana when mr. underhill is at the door asking about the lunch tab charged to his account? he could have just stayed in the bedroom.

I guess I never realized how many ex-players we have on the boards. I'll attempt to not be too humbled.
I've never played hockey in my life. My tiny Texas town upbringing is making itself known. The closest rink was a 6 hour drive away. And sure the puddles froze over but you sure as heck didn't go walking on them... Being a girl I had to fight to keep my soccer team alive. We played the boys for a couple of seasons.
I didn't fall in love with hockey until I fled to the east coast.

I wonder who's going to lose their job as a result of McGinn's emergence when Scott Hartnell returns.

No way McGinn goes back to ADK now, right?

- johndewar

Keep in mind the Flyers will probably be trading a forward and a draft pick or two for a defenseman...Personally I'd keep Knuble in because he does a great job in front of the net on the PP and is a smart PK man. I think Fedetenko might be sat and maybe trade Simmonds and keep McGinn around. Either way its gonna be Simmonds or Read gone because of the upcoming contract Read will get and I like him better than Simmonds and I think McGinn has played way better on the top line than Simmonds. Just My Opinion
