It's a great problem to have. It would shock me at all to see Schenn on the wing or traded if they want to add a Dman. I can't see Briere being moved with his NMC. This is just me speculating of course.
- NickTheKid87

You would think that he might be open to doing the flyers a solid and ok a trade to a place where his sons can manage play play station at

Thought giroux had a great game. That's what we needed Out of our captain he was excellent defensively all night. Voracek and schenn may have something going here. I just hope McGinn can sustain. He sure seems effective even I'd he doesn't score. Can't wait for knuble to be scratched. Gervais had a bad game. Too soft on his passes in his own zone. Can't wait for Gus to come up and scratch foster. Foster isn't terrible but the pairing with grossman isnt a great fit. I just hope schenn and cooter nail it this year. Briere should become tradable this summer.

I think a buyout pf Briere is more likely in the offseason than a trade given his NMC.

And what I love about McGinn is, like you said, he's still effective even when he doesn't score. It's not like he's lighting it up offensively either, a la Marcus Foligno for Buffalo last year. We all knew Foligno couldn't keep that up but McGinn seems to be playing only slightly above his normal level, which would be a great thing for the Flyers.

I thought we looked like a bunch of drunk 12 year olds for the first 5 minutes. then we found our legs a bit and figured out we could play.

If McGinn keeps this up I'm gonna love this guy!
Once again Read showed up and played his heart out.
Finally Schenn and Jake had a decent game. Let's see if they can keep this up.
I had to do a double take to make sure it was Rinaldo last night. Good for him!

I also hate the Grossman / Foster pairing up. I miss Mez. I miss him a lot.
G was definately better this game but I'd still like to see more from him or his line actually finishing. And Briere, my favorite player, where are ya!

I do have to give credit. Both of their goals were nice goals. They deserved them both (particularly the first one). I'm still glad we won.

The funny thing about Kurtis Foster is, with his size and slapshot.....he just looks like he could be a good hockey player.

Until you watch him actually....you know.....play.

Woof.

If they can get 6/8 points remaining 4 games on this road trip, that loss in Toronto doesn't look so bad. 8 out of 12 points is nothing to scoff at.
- NickTheKid87

Well, bad loss aside, they're 4-1-1 in their last 6.

From all around effort agree 100%. I'm confused w/ his playmaking decisions and PP work of late. A lot of national talk on Ovie being predictable and I'm starting to sense that w/ Girioux on PP. Set up on left boards, pitch n catch w/ Timmo and that's it. Wish we'd move him around more on PP.

Blind passes also have to go!!! Way too often.

After the Toronto game, I got into an argument on Twitter with a guy who claimed Holmgren traded away a "decade's worth of talent" so I asked if he'd rather have Richards and Carter over Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn, Couturier and Cousins and he said yes. I told that's why he's not a GM and he blocked me. He also cited the Kings' Cup as a reason why Richards & Carter were better than the guys we got. I wonder what he thinks after last night's game?

When you trade 26 year old, all star level players for 18, 20 and 23 year olds, you're going to have to deal with growing pains from relying on youthful players. The Flyers dealt with the growing pains with Richards and Carter, and decided to go in a different direction.

A 19 year old Sean Couturier is not going to be as developed as a 26 year old Mike Richards.

As for the Stanley Cup, sure Richards and Carter played roles in the Kings' title. But playing bigger roles were Jon Quick, Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty and Dustin Brown.

Just beat the Devils Friday.
That is going to take an even better effort then last night, though.

I Hate the idea of trading Brayden Schenn. He has a really bright future I think.
They showed Brayden, McGinn, and Voracek's picture together last night. They are all so young looking. 21, 22, and 23 years old. Great future for the Flyers, hopefully.

I loved seeing Schenn, McGinn and Simmonds all crashing the net at various times last night. That seemed to be missing in Toronto. And Voracek setting up those goals, controlling the puck, and then whipping it into the slot. Jake has tons of talent and when he plays like he has been he is a key guy for them.

Nice bounce back game from Grossmann. One of the announcers said he just erases guys. Him and L Schenn give them a very physical presence back there.

Buff was getting away with a ton of stuff last night. And Rinaldo looks like he has mastered the anger control issues. Good to see.

Jon Sim has signed a full on AHL deal with the Phantoms. He had been on a tryout deal.

The funniest part of the whole thing was that he wanted to have a roster overhaul in the offseason. As if they didn't do that 2 years ago. Typical Philly impatience.

Knuble was fine, too. But the Briere line was pretty quiet on the whole last night; not a bad game for them, though.
- bmeltzer

Knuble lack of footspeed really hurts him. He always seems to get to the right spot on the ice, he just gets there a second or 2 too late. Combining his lack of speed with Briere's defensive shortcomings worry me a little.

Bill, do you think Knuble is the guy that comes out of the lineup when Hartnell returns? I would much rather see that, than to have them sit McGinn or Rinaldo.

They were counting on Pronger to mitigate the growing pains. This offseason was more an effort to replace Pronger than to have an overhaul.

I guess the Flyers wanted someone around that Luke Schenn could beat during skating drills.

I think B Schenn and Voracek have been our best forwards over the past few games.. i dont agree with the whole, finally part.

I think last night was a great game. They played well for almost 60 minutes. They didnt give up at all. There was not a single part of the game that had me wondering if they would be able to pull it out.

I am hoping Gus gets a shot soon. I thought Gervias looked bad again last night. Real indecisive with the puck.. He did have a few long passes, but I noticed him a bunch last night... where as the rest of the games I hadnt.

That first PP was as bad as they have looked at any point in the season.

When Kimmo scored on a later PP I was just laughing because they looked so awful and then they score a goal. You never know.

If Zac can play that way every game, If... If... If...

He would be a dynamic little spark plug/agitator.

- ggunky

Give him time, he is still very young. Many of the NHL's best agitators were guys who had to learn to control their emotions before becoming successful in their roles.

When Rinaldo plays with discipline like he did last night, he looks like he can be a 3rd line winger and fill an important role on the team, he was really an impact player last night and fun to watch!!

And that is the main reason i cut Homer some serious slack. Its not like this was a known problem for a few seasons. He attempted to make moves, and big moves at that, to fill that void. I have faith in him. Just gotta deal with highs and lows like the past two games. Im afraid that is gonna be a trend this year.. A few highs, a few lows... no middle ground.
