No. They wanted Kassian and his style of play.
- rmiethaner

If Cody hodgson wasn't playing on vaneks line and you didn't know his name,no one would be impressed. He is a awful defensive liability. He gives up the puck and I don't see how you give up a player like Kassian. Because we have foligno, why not have foligno and Kassian. Here is the problem,Darcy over values his talent. He honestly thought by getting a center we were set. How would Kassian and foligno look growing up with grigorenko and girgensons

You said Boyes isn't helping his team win. The islanders are the islanders.the argument the person was making is lindy doesn't use what talent they have ever had, wisely. The hechts, griers, wards and the list goes on see top 6 ice. Kassian,a guy we havebeenwanting in buffalo for years, plays 10 games, never sees a top 6 line or minutes and then we trade him. The reason we traded him was we needed centers and whose fault was that,REGIER. I guarantee that hodgson trade could of been made for stafford and a young prospect or another combination, they are a mess in that organization
- Buffalo1000

Boyes, even if he matches his production on Long Island this year, doesn't make this team any better. I'm sick of hearing about how mediocre player A has more points on Team B than he did here last year. Is it making a difference? No? Then it's irrelevant. This team needs difference makers. And Boyes, Torres, Dominic Moore, Clarke MacArthur, or any other player they've let go isn't one of them.

Why give if your getting back the same? Moving Ennis makes little sense.

I would classify O'Reilly as a difference maker (I think). Unfortunately, if what you're saying is true about the Sabres not even considering it, it doesn't surprise me.

I think anyone who makes a trade for him has to agree to his contract demands first. There's no sense at giving up for bargaining rights at this point.

Who knows? At the same time, though, O'Reilly could be stuck in the same situation Kennedy was, only on a larger scale, and his agent could be pushing for the big money. Granted, it falls on the player to eventually say "okay, this is stupid, I want to play", but with how complicated these contract issues are, it doesn't surprise me.

Considering the return Rick Nash got (not much), I have a feeling you'll be pretty underwhelmed with the return for O'Reilly if he ends up being traded, wherever he goes.

Because the islanders don't have the money, the kings won't blow it up and Washington has no one to trade. Besides that, there are no other teams as pitiful as us that need to make and early trade

It makes little sense unless you can tell me what we're getting back.

If we're getting, for example, Colton Orr back, then, no, it doesn't make sense. You have to face facts. This is a losing team. It was a losing team last year. It was a losing team the year before. They either miss the post season, or may squeak into the playoffs, but are quickly dispatched after one round. Same will happen this year. They look like they are going nowhere fast. I, for one, wouldn't mind some bold moves here.

If it means trading a guy like Ennis, then so be it. It doesn't mean we are spinning our wheels. Like I said, what are we getting in return? That's the question that has to be asked.

But there are plenty of teams that O'Reilly can put over the top, if he's really as good as the hype says he is.

Watch him end up in Boston.

dude, you are seriously overvaluing kassian. he's put up decent points playing in vancouver, but he's playing with the sedins. those two could turn peters into an all-star sniper.

kassian is a sparkplug type player...the sabres don't need him, you have foligno, ott, and kaleta....what the sabres did need was a center who had top line potential. hodgson is going to be a MUCH BETTER player then kassian when all is said and done. while i do think that your GM has made a few bonehead moves, acquiring hodgson was ABSOLUTELY not one of them.....if anything, he totally fleeced vancouver in that deal.

and if you honestly thinkg that you could have gotten hodgson for stafford and a prospect, then i think you should apply for the buffalo GM position, and i'll trade you jim o'brien for tomas vanek....i swear it's a fair deal.

I totally agree. Boston,Pittsburgh,Philadelphia will make it happen. Everyone laughed at the kings for trading for Richards and carter, they gave up Schenn was there top prospect, because you know what, they were sick of always saying the future

He's out performing his league minimum deal? That's not hard to do.

And can you find an example of that on this roster besides Sulzer? Who by Lindy's decision is a healthy scratch

Nobody's going to laugh at any team for trading for O'Reilly, not in the near future anyway. Unlike Richards and Carter, there are 29 other teams that would love to have O'Reilly if they could make it work, unless this contract dispute is really souring his reputation.
