I understand that Sulzer has scored three goals, and I agree that he has played quite solidly. However in the last 2-3 games he has been taking some bad penalties that have influenced the momentum of the game. I would like to have Sulzer in over Leopold, but I don't understand all of your infatuation with him.
I think it is reasonable to sit Sulzer because he is in our last pairing, Leopold should be out with Sulzer in though based on play.
One thing that came to mind today was that perhaps Regier is hoping that Leopold will work out of his bad play so that we can trade him. Maybe the whole plan was to trade Leopold but since he has played like doo doo we cant get anything for him. Maybe he is letting him play out of his funk so that we can get a trade by the deadline, which, IMO is an OK plan.

Honestly, I feel like we stole him from Vancouver. There have been a few people around here that complain that he's not very good, but I think they're just complaining for the sake of complaining. - HonkFortheGoose
He has been our 2nd best player to Vanek all season, that Includes Pommer IMO

I dont think we have a "last pair". He has been playing with Hoff a lot, how is that the last pair?
he has been a minus on this sorry team only one game this year...Leo has been a minus 7 times, 4 of those minus 2 or worse.
In the last 2-3 games he has taken some penalties???? In the last seven games he has only taken one penalty total.

He has 8 PIMs. That means 4 penalties. Not exactly terrible.
He's not our last pairing. For the most part, he's played with Ehrhoff. On what's been the top pairing.

Yeah. He makes a good first pass. Plays defense first, but will jump in offensively when he feels comfortable. He's also a very good skater. - HonkFortheGoose

You realize I was talking about Sulzer, right? Not Hodgson. I think the Kassian/Hodgson part of that trade was pretty even based on what each team needed.

I don't either, 2 of his 3 goals were bad goals. They are goals I know but Sulzer is extremely weak in front of the net

she was talking about Sulzer - Homer
I see that now. Sulzer isn't horrible I guess but besides Leo he is the weak link on our starting 6 IMO. I don't think he has been as solid as people think, more lucky. Again just MO

I just dont see how a guy who has been a minus player in one game all year is a weak link, but ok.

Yeah but that has been because of injuries. He, skill-wise, should be on our last pairing. Yeah 8 PM's aren't bad but they can be if they come at bad times. I think Leopold should be in the press box over Sulzer, but it really isn't that outrageous that he is sitting.

People will continue to try and nitpick and find small things to complain about when it comes to him because he was a "throw in" in the trade. That must mean he's not good enough, right??

He started off the season on the top pairing. With Ehrhoff. When all 8 defensemen were healthy. Try again.

And he was a healthy scratch when we were 2-0 and healthy. He's a healthy scratch again because he is weak in front of the net and not very good, that's why he was a throw in. He's nothing special and if he had to play a role like Myers or Hoff or even Sekera he would be in the minus as well

He's one of 2 defensemen that has a + rating, and that's with playing against top opposition. He wasn't scratched until the 4th game, after they got shelled in Carolina. He still managed to finish that game with an assist, and a +1 rating. He's playing with Hoff, so how is he not playing the same role? He gets PK time as well. I really don't see what problem you have with him.
Is he a spectacular defenseman? No. But he's been one of our best this year and is currently a scratch. Because the coach is a fricken idiot.
