After the Canes game when Lindy sat Grigs most of the 2nd then all of the 3rd, and also had him on a line with John Scott. and played Hecht, Kaleta instead. I vowed not to go to another game until Lindy is fired! - ImThatGuy
I said that after florida but then I got tickets for 15 bucks for the Bruins game . I couldn't resist! But thats the last time! I swear

I tell the guys in my section who scream "SHOOOT" to shout the F up. They are Pro hockey players, they know when to F'n shoot the puck.
Love when people BOO other players for being great, I just laugh at the ignorance.....
Last year at Penguins game a guy in my section would stand up and BOO crosby every time he touched the puck. Embarrassing. - Ghost of Bill B
I used to get upset at the booing, but it's pretty commonplace around most NHL Arenas now. It's something I merely tune out. Of course, the Florida game was funny. Brian Campbell wasn't booed until he scored the go ahead/winning goal late in the 3rd period. That arena is embarrassingly quiet. I understand the product isn't very good, but I've been to 10+ other arenas in the NHL, some with better teams and some with worse, and other than Florida, I don't think I've heard a quieter building. That includes Toronto, the place where, if you believe most fans, people that pull in 6 figures are supposedly completely incapable of making noise.

That can be blamed on the game day staff. (and the product) What do they do to get the fans into the game besides play Cotton Eyed Joe, Sandstorm and flash Make noise on the jumbotron.
Now granted if the product was better, I'm sure the place would be more involved.

I have never been to any other arena but I do know we used to have a loud crowd at the games. I don't blame the fans for the quietness, I blame RRP
* My money is on Brennan and Sekera sitting this one out.
Sulzer is paired with Brennan at the morning skate and Sekera with Ehrohoff but Garth puts his money on Brennan and Sekera being scratched. - Doug Allen
There is no way in hell Sekera would be one of the two out. It was always two of of Leopold, Sulzer, and Brennan. Sounds like it would be the last two.

A Canadian guy called WGR and said he thinks the Buffalo sports fan is too afraid not to go to the games when the product is bad be because we're afraid the team will leave if they don't go. He right. Of course Schopp slammed the guy but he's right. You have 18,690 hostages in the building, bored as hell, but too afraid to leave.

Mike Harrington is reporting that Sulzer, Brennan and Scott are tonights scratches

Like I said, I've been to arenas that had worse teams, and it was never this bad. Product has something to do with it, but I believe game staff and the demographic of people who go to the game has more to do with it. Ever since they emphasized the family atmosphere, the atmosphere was lacking, even during playoff games.

Bills games are pretty great even though they stink! Bills atmosphere > Sabres atmosphere! And it ain't even close.
Your right about the family atmosphere! It stinks lol

I don't think it's that they're "afraid" not to go. People buy tickets and not show up often, and have been for a while. The gameday prices on Stubhub illustrate that. Product is only part of the problem. It was a problem even in 2010, and they won their division that year.
EDIT: I also think people still go because it's a stature signal in this area. Going to the Sabres game is still a big deal, especially in a city like this, where there's very little else to do during winter.

I don't know if it's the family thing entirely. I think saying "bad product" simplifies it too much. This team is so prone to blown leads. Late goals and other unbelievable chokes. I just think the fans have no confidence. It's been a long time since "Now do you believe?"

Why are Bills games still so loud? The team is terrible, and have really given very little reason to be excited for a long time. It's because the "a-hole" fan is the dominant demographic (most of them are loaded too). It's a place you rarely want to take your family to. Philly is the same way. That's why, even though they get a bad rap, it's one of the loudest buildings in the league.
I like these lines except Hecht instead of McCormick and Leopold, Sulzer should sit.
We have enough goons on our squad without McCormick, Hecht is a better hockey player. Should he get more minutes than Vanek? (frank) no, just 4th line minutes.
We all know why Leopold should sit, but I think Sulzer has been taking some dumb penalties recently that have shifted momentum in the opponent's favor. Give Brennan a chance, maybe he can provide some offense, and I like the way he moves the puck.
Sekera should not sit. Yes I saw the two "bad" plays he made last game. The "Screen" I don't really think he should be blamed for. If he avoids screening Miller there is a Boston forward standing in front of Miller unopposed. The pass that was picked up by Bergeron was just plain retarded.

None of it matters.. the team is uninspired and has poor leadership behind the bench.

Ridiculous. A city with high taxes and low average income has people lining up to attend sporting events because they are afraid the team might leave.
WNY'ers and Southern Onterrorists are flocking to the arena because if they don't, a guy who has his toilets cleaned with $100 bills is going to pack the team up and leave.
Ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as saying the franchise won't change things as long as fans keep selling out games. Ludicrous.

false. we love hockey so much we'll go even when it's bad, but it does frustrate us quite a bit because we care that much.
