Solid Banter sir. I am a sensitive person and sometimes it comes out. lol

Regardless, tonight will be a good matchup. Im anxious to see if a team can finally play with the Hawks for three periods. The only team to come close IMO was St. Louis.

What happens to Shaw or Bickell who's been playing well? Bolland and Saad would be on your third line, but who plays the other wing? Neither deserves to be demoted to the 4th line or benched.
- DarthKane

If it's via a trade you will most likely have to give up a player currently playing

On McMarketing:

Only an idiot wouldn't be able to see how it might make players question the priorities of the organization, and therefore on some level, undermine their morale and commitment.

And that's where it does affect things on the ice. I've heard from multiple sources, there was some bad juju out there about the Hawks' organization in the league, among players. Lookno further than PUBLIC statements made by brian Campbell last year. And there was more, on and off the record from numerous ex-Hawks.

Does it hurt free agency recruiting? You bet. If McDonough is the hand holding Bowman back from pulling the trigger on deals, that could also be hurting the Hawks' ability to find dance partners for trades.

- John Jaeckel

From my perspective, this has been obvious.

Your whole post could be considered Meli.mefe..memefl...mellifluous...sorry South Side guy...that word is really tough for me.

Very well said

Used in wrong context on purpose as well for added comedic affect....maybe

I hope they realize that at 1901 W. and will not hesitate to improve this team given the opportunity. I suspect they now realize it is about winning.

- John Jaeckel

I know you do not mess with a winning streak, but have you heard if there are potential deals simmering on the back burner in case things head south? I know you said a while ago that they hawks want to add to physical forwards that can skate. Right now, Bickell seems to be one (finally), but for how long?

Amazing insights as usual JJ.

From the looks of this morning skate, the #Blackhawks are going to have a tough time tonight. Can't make two straight passes.

I agree with your point.what would Saad, Shaw and Kruger look like on the 4th line?Or does moving Shaw off the third line take the energy off of it.I personly don't see us finding a 2nd line centre, may be too expensive or hard to find.
- eagle50

Saad isn't a 4th liner, I would imagine that if the 4th line was the only viable option in Chicago then he'd go to Rockford. What kind of message would it send Shaw to be demoted to the 4th line, he's been great on the 3rd and even looked good on the 2nd. Maybe these guys take one for the team and we have a 4th line of Carcillo, Kruger and Shaw but I don't think that's the right thing to do.

#3 is because of #1 and #8, one of the keys I mentioned in the offseason. Overall Crawford has not had to be great, just good, to win. And that's a formula for success with this roster.
- John Jaeckel

While I agree that the defense and the checking have really aided Crawford this season, CC also seems to be controlling rebounds much better than he did last year. He isn't getting out of position due to big rebounds coming off his pads and I think that has really helped him from falling prey to too frenetic a pace.

His flexibility also seems to have improved in the offseason. I wonder what, if anything, he did, or whether that is just my imagination. He just seems to be moving better between the pipes than he did last year.

All this right now is good for the brand and therefore good for McDonough. But expectations are now building again. Some people out there are talking like this is a team of destiny and the Cup will be a cakewalk. Those who have followed hockey for a while know the leader at the quarter pole usually is not the team that gets its name on the big prize.

Ive been upset with Sharp so far but somewhere on the world wide web I saw that he's hit 8 posts this year ?? As a matter of fact that beauty he scored on Mike Smith went off the post and in too, hopefully Sharpie just keeps shooting , hopefully the Hawks wont be force feeding him the puck unless they are up by 3+ goals.

Off topic anecdote time. I was once at a Cubs game during Kerry Wood's rookie season. Guys in the LF bleachers were taking bets on how many strikeouts he would get that game. As I was watching him warm up, and seemingly had zero control, bouncing pitches two to three feet in front of the catcher, I turned to my buddy and said, "I'm guessing one and that he gets rocked in the first inning." What happens? Woodie calmly goes out, strikes out 20 Astros and is a blown Kevin Olie grounder away from a no-no.

Point of the story: Sometimes gameday practice doesn't translate into gameday play.

John, quarter pole refers to the last 1/4th of a race, not the first.
