thornton - 6'4" 235 pounds
malkin - 6'3" 193 pounds
vanek - 6'2" 208 pounds
marleau - 6'2" 220 pounds
stamkos - 6'1" 188 pounds

are you really about to tell me that because malkin is 7 pounds light of your bar, vanek and marleau 1" short, and stamkos 12 pounds and 2" shy, means they're about to receive an expemtion from ridiculous whining? want to disregard that thornton eclipses both?

are you about to actually devote more time to proving this?

my god, you are an absolute gem.

That is why Lindback is so disappointing for Tampa... He isnt physical enough in clearing his crease and playing the puck behind the net....

Not only did he nearly have a hattrick in the first period (robbed, hit the post, scored) But Dion Phaneuf played amazing last night. Flat. Out. Amazing.

Anyone who disagrees must be a smoker of the crack, because he played what would have to be one of the most solid, entertaining, versitile and responsible games a defensemen can possibly play.

Night in and night out people try to tell me he sucks. I honestly don't know if its the Leafs (people hate them) his attitude (he does give bad interviews) or the fact that he's rich and his wife is hotter than yours, but people just hate him in an irrational manner that can only stem from jealousy.

Today, and I sh it you not, someone tried to tell me that Tobias Enstrom - yes, Tobias Fumke Enstrom - was a better player, and even the writers from his home town - looking at you , Coxy - don't suggest he should be on Team Canada.

So whats the deal? How can a guy be so good and have people hate him so much?

And anyone who says things like "he's a number three defensemen" doesn't even deserve a response. Its like saying "Astronomy is real".

I dont get what your point is. Yeah if he could play more physical. Slap shot a fireball through the net, and force push mofos out the way hed be better. But not doing those things doesnt make him bad. Its just makes him someone other than god.
- kylkri

Point is that if you have the natural gift of being 6'3" and 200+ lbs, it's probably best that you use that size as much as possible. Having the blend of talent and using that size is hard to stop.

Dion Phaneuf is over rated like the Beatles dude. If anything, the guy is MASSIVELY underrated. Dion Rocks and is one of the best players in the NHL.

Dion Phaneuf is over rated like the Beatles dude. If anything, the guy is MASSIVELY underrated. Never seen so much hate for such a good player, especially one who does everything: hits, plays D, kills penalties, qbs the PP, has a rocket, great passer, great skater, fights, CRUSHES people.

Say something enough and people think its true, but whatever. Dion Rocks and is one of the best players in the NHL.

- Aquaman_2400

haha. wow. blind love for phaneuf, that's a rare thing.

underrated?!?

he's consistently out of position, so bad so that the endless search to find him a partner that can compensate for his defensive shortcomings is still happening after 3 years. his 'rocket' of a shot, might come close to hitting the net 1 out of 10 times, and is resposible for breaking one of our better players arms, almost killing kadri, and a ref or two.

he's a terrible fighter. he picks his fights, and ducks enough of them to the point it's embarrassing. his flat footed ness makes him a prone target for any type of forward with anything close to what resembles speed. his wild rushes consistently cost the team on the scoresheet. he's a minus on a team that mark (frank)ing fraser is a +10. his leadership is embarrassing.

i've long said the only thing he does well is hit people, and through 13 games i haven't even seen him use that.

i can play 25-30 really piss poor minutes a night to, if that makes me one of the best players in the game, i'll roll with it.

you are drunk dude, drunk.

tlusty, robbie earle. pogge. toskala is a 1a goalie.

you think at this point he'd be embarrassed enough to just shut the (frank) up.

but noooo. we get the incessent whining by way of alternate accounts now a days. sweet.

- joel878

in his defence, the Tlusty trade was just brutal... Tlusty is a solid NHL player and he was dealt for nothing.

i'm blown away that you would complete delete everything from the quote that made any sense, and focus on the one thing that doesn't even come close to proving your non existent dumbass point.

so not your style, not even close.

he was traded for paradis, who was used in a deal for versteeg... who was traded for a 1st and 3rd rounder. the leafs have a better chance with percy turning out to be an impact player than they would've with tlusty.

hardly a 'brutal' trade.

You should be blown away that you listed all of them when all I said was that not all of them were that big and go figure, not all of them were.

But back to the point. If a player has a size advantage, he should use it as often as possible. When you're as talented as Malkin, maybe you don't have to hit everybody that moves but it still helps to use those physical advantages. When it comes to van Riemsdyk, who doesn't have anywhere near as much talent as Malkin, it helps a lot more to be more physical because then you have a combination of talent and grit rather than just trying to rely on talent and ignoring a natural size advantage.

apparently...

A) Stuart Percy is going to be better than Tlusty
B) there is absolutely NO WAY the Leafs could have drafted Percy without first dealing Tlusty for Paradis

jesus man, they are all literally a couple inches and less than 10 pounds away from being JVR. so what you're saying is that those few inches and pounds mean they can play whatever style they want, but JVR is useless because he doesn't play a phyiscal style? wake the (frank) up!

this is (frank)ing petty dude, even for you. and that's saying alot. at least some of your female doging and whining that you consistently litter these boards with has potentially a shred of merit, this has zero.

this is nothing more than you spending hours of your life trying to nitpick and whine about the leafs. you're reaching.
