I dunno Big D, Im not sold on "Useless WideA$$" As it sounded to me like Joe Bowen was calling him, Roloson, Huet, Turrco, LeClair, Raycroft????
- Jimmy_wiener

basically the way i see it, Rynass would sit on the bench, and if Scrivens gets lit up, he goes in. other than that, hes on the bench.

how long we figure reimer is gone for? 1-2 weeks?

It's not that he isn't any of those things you labeled him as - it's that his career is nearing an end, or trailing off at the very least (even if by a small margin).
- A_Tree

I tend to agree.

Then I remind myself that maybe he is just needing a change of scenery. Mats Sundin remained a PPG player into his late 30's.

If you plan on keeping Kessel, he is exactly the type of center you need.

You did say Fasth last year. I remember that. There are lots of AHL goalies who in small sample sizes I think would do alright....Mark Dankanich, Cedric Desjardins, or, just see Rynnas and what he can do. Nothings at stake.
- mykokes

Leafs still need another goalie in the system. Owuya doesn't really seem like he's worth it anymore either.

Our lack of size at centre will always cause problems for us when we play the 'canes.
- Atomic Wedgie

Definitely. I think there are ways to supplant the lack of size at center however.

I just heard on the radio that Reimer got a 'stick in the balls". I watched the video of the injury after hearing this and its hard to tell but it looks very possible that he did get Simmonds' stick in the nuts. That would be good news. (not for him).

Check the video and the reaction, it looks like it for sure.

Now that's the kinda Leaf fan we all love - glass is not only half empty - its full of bullet holes and on the verge of exploding.

Hey, I just remember two weeks ago when everyone including me was screaming at the idea of Holzer and Fraser being with this team. We're 8-5 right now, its nice, but I'm not going to make the mistake of announcing to the world that we've got a plethora of d-men. I'm cautiously optimistic

reims wont be out long and ben is a capable back up as he proved last night.

is he ready for the #1? no, but, i think he can keep us in the game for the next few til Optimus is well lubed and ready to go.

agree, if Reimer can keep up his strong play the leafs can make the playoffs
but, their downfall will be not having that #1C and no its not Weiss that they need.

really eh? i dunno.

if you look at the footage - the first big save of the game that reimer makes *(game in 6) he does the full splits, i think he tweaks someting there. thats my guess, let me know what you think after you check it out...

I think its too small a sample size but he did have a shot to take the backup job from rynnas to start the season and didn'ts, and spent much of the first part as the third goalie. But yeah, I can see them grabbing a guy should Rynnas go up to play with Owuya. Do they not have anyone in the ECHL? Where's Sparks right now? the O?

Yeah i agree, weiss is what we dont need.

and as much flak as bozak takes...hes not all that bad. he does a lot of the little things good, some of them better than your bonified #1 C....i mean hell, hes playing better than a lot of #1 C in the league right now.

that being said, leafs need reimer, his poise and ability to give the leafs confidence is huge.

It could be anything but the reaction sure looks like he got "nutted" if it was a knee or hammy or something like that, the natural reaction would be to try and stretch it out. He didn't do that.

Yes, but not just 'young kids' but guys in their mid to late 20's coming into the NHL looking like regulars. It's fantastic having a nice depth chart, it's a completely different ballgame having the tools to develop them.
- A_Tree

yes it's been fantastic that we are seeing early success from some of these reclamation/late bloomer projects, but think that we have likely tapped the system dry in that regard (excluding Paul Ranger).

Also, with all of the young players from recent years drafts that are in the juniors still, they will need to be on the Marlies at some point in the near future, so I believe the Mariles are going to be leaning towards the 'younger' side for the next 3-5 years as some of the older AHLers move on to make room.

Nobody knows how long Reimer will be out for. Could be a week. Could be a month.

Also, if Reimer hurt his groin, it's not something that heals quickly. Goalies often pull a groin and it becomes a recurring injury until the season is done. Sometimes even requiring surgery like a sports hernia.

Scrivens can go from "capable back up" to Ben Sievins after a couple bad games in Toronto.

But either way, what I'm talking about is having another prospect coming up through the ranks. As far as a back-up goes, they can stick with Scrivens and Rynnas.

Hey, it would be even funnier if Rynnas comes in and pulls a Reimer from two years ago....

The Leafs don't have an ECHL team and Sparks is in the OHL. But Owuya isn't anything special. He really isn't that good at all.
