Leafs fans over-rate Gardiner. He's not a bum, but he's no Orr, either. I'd be willing to trade him if the deal was good.

Kadri is a keeper. The only way I'd let him go is if a bigger, just as good with the puck centre comes back.

NHLDoctor earlier said that Kadri's pass to Frattin was the best goal last night.

Nope.

His pass to Mac was even sweeter.

Uh. Frattins goal was a deflection from Franson

Spit balling on another goalie. He was a decent backup for a bunch of years before last year.
- AdamFrench

Joacim Eriksson. 22 year old prospect goaltender of the Flyers. Has played two solid seasons in the Elitserien. Probably could get him for next to nothing or pretty cheap.

Johan Gustafsson. 20 year old prospect of the Wild. Has also played two straight solid seasons in the Elitserien. Probably the same story on price tag.

Obviously, he then becomes an overpayment for which ever team decides to hire him onto their roster.
- A_Tree

Yes, you probably do have to overpay. His contract will be very big also.

The thing is, I think Gardiner is/was our best D. He hasn't played yet though and we do have some considerable D talent in our system.

Kadri is having a good year, but do any of us forsee him being a good #1 Center in the league?

I am not sure I make the deal either, but I can definitely see the side of the arguement that a 6'4" 28 year old with a Stanley Cup ring and a legitimate 1st line center would command at least the price I offered.

I'd like the Leafs to sign Roloson, for no other reason than the guy is older than me.

So my dream of making it to the NHL would be alive again.

Too close.

Can't risk it.

I think right now, they're more likely to underate him, because in T.O. its always what are you doing for me right now. Plus let's be honest here, we have a 25 yo German rookie on the blueline, a career AHLer leading our team in +/- and another career AHLer in our top 6. I think we gots to keep Gardiner, because eventually I can see all three of the above or even two of the above stinking the joint out.

So 'Canes are next. Couple things:

Do you guys think Scrivens can hold the workload in Reimers absence?

The Leafs were heavily out worked and out chanced resulting in their previous meeting. Since then the team has won four games, two (literal and figurative) beat downs. Will the fire last?

I'd like to think Gards will be back, but like dozzer, I don't think he'll make it back this season based on the surprising play of Franson, Fraser (Sp.), Holzer, and Koska.

Not to mention when Gunnar comes back RC is going to have to make some tough decisions as to how sits out/ goes down to the marlies - potentially having to go through waivers too.

- A_Tree

I agree with you and Dozzer, and will add that as long as Dallas Eakins is still with the Marlies, all of our young prospects are going to spend some time down in the AHL.

He has proved to be amazing at getting young kids to take the next step and get to the next level of professionalism. Along with getting them to buy into the system the organization is preaching.

Yeah one bad week could turn our real deep NHL defense into one as shallow as the Vancouver gene pool.

Let Scrivens and Rynnas deal with the issue.

You did say Fasth last year. I remember that. There are lots of AHL goalies who in small sample sizes I think would do alright....Mark Dankanich, Cedric Desjardins, or, just see Rynnas and what he can do. Nothings at stake.

Our lack of size at centre will always cause problems for us when we play the 'canes.

It's not that he isn't any of those things you labeled him as - it's that his career is nearing an end, or trailing off at the very least (even if by a small margin).

actually franson shot it, kadri deflected it to frattin who put it in.

frattin never deflected a shot... he tipped in the pass from kadri who somehow made a perfect pass by deflecting a shot

Yes, but not just 'young kids' but guys in their mid to late 20's coming into the NHL looking like regulars. It's fantastic having a nice depth chart, it's a completely different ballgame having the tools to develop them.

At the moment, he'd only be playing against Leafs alumni teams.

So if he does shut out Vaive, Sittler and Bill Derlago, I'm not so upset.
