Liles+Brown+Komisarek for Yakupov. - jbold
Leafs are overpaying. Have you seen Yakupov's goal celebrations? We cant take on that type of player. |

ok.. i'll sit back and just wait and see.. kadri is proof that toronto needs to stop rushing guys into their lineups too young.. there is no need for it.. none at all. - Dozzer

100% agree. Gardiner, Blacker,Finn, Percy,Nilsson are all maturing and are all legitimate prospects. No need to Rush the Blue chip prospect let him evolve properly

Difference is that Gardiner had a strong year last year. Not saying that he is coming but if Eakins says he is ready, I wouldn't count it out |

I would imagine barring a trade
JVR/Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR/Lupul-Grabo-Kulemin
Mac-Kadri-Frattin
Komarov-McClement-Orr - AdamFrench
If Carlyle wants to continue using the Grabo line as a shut-down line, I can see Lupul on the 3rd |

Sorry Dozzer disagree Gardiner will be back.. he is just getting the JVR treatment.. it was a clear message had nothing to do with the concussion he came out and played Ron Wilson's system.. and Carlyle was clear.. you will not play that way again... skate, pinch but do it smartly was the message.. he will be back in a few weeks.. Liles had a decent game yesterday.. but he is no defensive zone monster.. Gardiner with his bigger body will be much better.
As for Reilly.. I guarantee you he will be on the team next fall, but the same rules apply.. if he does not knuckle down in his own zone and use his speed to make the simple play then he might see some AHL action but if he gets the message loud and clear from Gardiner this season then he will be at fault.. I don't think he will.
Percy a very smart player who has bulked up a bit.. I wouldn't be surprised if he made it also.. but I forsee some AHL time for him. - DoctorNHL
I'd like to think Gards will be back, but like dozzer, I don't think he'll make it back this season based on the surprising play of Franson, Fraser (Sp.), Holzer, and Koska.
Not to mention when Gunnar comes back RC is going to have to make some tough decisions as to how sits out/ goes down to the marlies - potentially having to go through waivers too. |

I figured that as well, but I can't see him getting 15 minutes a night, unless the hate he felt in Anaheim isn't behind him |

Well, with him on that line, it becomes a much bigger threat, and with that, more time.... two legit scoring lines. Plus our hall of fame 4th line. |

yeah, i dont disagree with that at all
i just dont think young prospects should be anywhere near carlyle's hard nosed hockey system until they are ready for it.
the toronto maple leafs lineup is not a good development placement |

Yea, I wouldn't count that out. I would have said he must be with Kessel - until JVR popped off. |

Gardiner part of a deal to get a legitimate 1st line center?
Gardiner + Kadri for Getzlaf?
Would you do it? |

Tempting but Nah. My hard on for Kadri and Gardiner is too much. Would I cry uncontrolably if it went down no, not at all. |

yup, and for all his points gards is a minus 5 in the AHL
he's still making the little d-zone mistakes that carlyle wants out of his game. its going to take a bit of time. |

Lol wouldn't that make the deal we got from Anaheim:
Beauchemin + Gardiner + Kadri for Getzlaf + Lupul + 4th. |

If Getzlaf had a 4-5 year contract. Wouldn't pay that much for a guy who might walk (or whom we could sign for nothing). |

Liles playing in the same system. If Eakins said Gardiner was ready -- playing at last year's level -- and we could get something for Liles, then do it. |

So, let me have both! Then I can please my wife with two stiffys.
Seriously though, can we just let this season play out, I've liked how its gone so far. Worry about Phil's contract in the offseason, see if Kadri/Frattin/Scrivens/Reimer/Gardiner/JVR and whoever else can be core pieces here. |
