Well yes, the fourth liners would be the obvious choice, but someone from the top nine still has to play on the fourth line then.
So who plays fourth line? Komarov is the obvious choice, but I like him in the top 9. |
|
|
|
Although they are not perfect Holzer & Fraser have made Liles expendable too.. when Gardiner comes back.. especially considering you have Reilly & Percy coming next season...
Time to get rid of that contract while he still has some value... |

I think it is MacA not enough offence and poor defending McCalren is more valuable in the short minutes he plays.. you can't really relegate McClement or Komarov to only 9 mins a game max.. and don't think MacA would be happy with that demotion.. |

Fraser is tied for the league lead in plus/minus with Kouivu.. 11+ the hallmark of playing a basic sound game..

Yeah, MacArthur, Connoly, Brown and Komi should be traded for picks this year! The sooner the better. - hooligoon
Brown is my favourite fourth liner. Just need him to stay healthy.

wanna know whats happening to gardiner?
see kadri: last two seasons.
gardiner all wowed us with his offensive game and skating but his defensive game is flat out deficient and it shows under carlyle's systems
gardiner probably wont get much of a look this year UNLESS liles gets hurt.. next year at the earliest.
i'll go one step further
rielly (for you nutbars who think he will be wearing the leafs sweater next year or the year after) wont make the leafs for another 3 years after this one. 1 more year of junior and two years of AHL pro.
this is of course barring injuries. |

Ya I figure something like that will happen, assuming everyone is healthy.
As long as its Steckel who is on his way out to open up the roster space, i'll be happy. |

We're probably a couple of weeks away from trade market opening up -- not enough teams out of races yet. That timing might work well with guys returning and others being made available.
Mac, Liles, Komi and potentially another D could all go individually or in packages. |

The importance of this 4rth line is greatly underestimated. They don't just protect teammates, they make soft players grow balls. Their presence is vital to Carlyle system. RC said it: We won't be intimidated easily anymore".
Aside from injuries, MacLaren-McClement-Orr are set where they are for the long haul. |

Chance of Rielly or Percy being in the NHL next year - slim to none. Percy, not a chance in hell he is ready. |

Sorry Dozzer disagree Gardiner will be back.. he is just getting the JVR treatment.. it was a clear message had nothing to do with the concussion he came out and played Ron Wilson's system.. and Carlyle was clear.. you will not play that way again... skate, pinch but do it smartly was the message.. he will be back in a few weeks.. Liles had a decent game yesterday.. but he is no defensive zone monster.. Gardiner with his bigger body will be much better.
As for Reilly.. I guarantee you he will be on the team next fall, but the same rules apply.. if he does not knuckle down in his own zone and use his speed to make the simple play then he might see some AHL action but if he gets the message loud and clear from Gardiner this season then he will be at fault.. I don't think he will.
Percy a very smart player who has bulked up a bit.. I wouldn't be surprised if he made it also.. but I forsee some AHL time for him. |

We are all entitled to our opinions.. but Rielly is a great skater.. I think he makes it outright.. Percy is more a cerebral player who needs to grow in size to be a great NHL defender..
In one year I think both have a good chance.. they now know the system and can work towards it... |

I think Reilly is better defensively then given credit for I ve watch him playing junior games ( yes I know it's different) but he defensive awareness seems pretty good. |

ok.. i'll sit back and just wait and see.. kadri is proof that toronto needs to stop rushing guys into their lineups too young.. there is no need for it.. none at all. |
