Leafs are 8-5 and have beaten some some tough opponentsand are magic on the road.

3 main reasons for true optimism in Leaf land............

1) Team is playing with an Identity with defined roles. (Wilson had them playing shinny) no one is trying to do to much, they are sticking up for each other, playing a team game

2) Frattin and Kadri - some young talent has emerged and is making the team better. Kadri 11 points / Frattin 10 points in 13 games. A quality 3rd line is giving the leafs 3 scoring lines that they can roll out on a nightly basis. speed, creativity and finish.

3) Reimer/Scrivens Both goalies have done a great job giving their team a chance to win every night. Reimer has shown alot of patience and great positioning. Scrivens has been everything you want out of a back up

There is hope............

I disagree, Hall does not play small, imo, the guy is fearless around the net.
- LeafMan

I would consider him mid-size (and that's being generous).

On the spectrum of small forward to power forward, Hall leans more toward the small forward side.

Hall is over 200 this year. Not like that matters. He plays small.

well lets see, take a look at hall and take a look at frattin - if you cant tell one guy is built bigger than the other by a good 10-15 pounds then your dreaming.

but since you know hall is 200 + now then i guess you dont need my 2 cents.

enjoying filling in for UG today are we?

It's just funny to me is all.

Hall... Small. Smid soft.

Kinda disingenuous to trash Cloutier for ridiculous stuff then swing just as hard the other way.

- robin_steele264

RNH need 10 to 20 lbs.

Hall will be fine where he is or maybe pack on 5 or 10.

Smid not soft but him and a couple defensemen can not carry the policing for the team. Eager is a meathead most times

Smid is soft now?

What else do you not have a clue about? I'm interested

- robin_steele264

Oh, yeah, opponents really fear the Oilers! I bet the circle Smid on the scouting report!

Edmonton has a glaring hole on its blue line and that is the absence of anyone to watch out for. They have nobody who punishes you for taking liberties.

The city was practically ready to shut down for a holiday to celebrate Fistric's arrival, for crying out loud.

As much flak as Phaneuf takes, he's a big, bruising defenseman that Giroux, Ovechkin, and Crosby have to wear like a shirt.

Take it from Leafs fans who had to learn this stuff the hard way: if you want a small top 6, you'd better have grit everywhere else in the line-up. If you want to groom guys like Frattin and Kadri, you get yourself a guy like Komarov.

Couldn't agree more. Leafs have been downhill since Kaberle got hit and crickets sounded after. The team has been a bunch of cream puffs for years. You all have to stick up for one another. If your tough guy sees you trying he'll stepp in and take the load. This team finally has some trucelance!

Didn't necessarily have to be Carlyle at the time. Wilson should have been gone in off season

It should have been Ken Hitchcock.

It is, then he pops back over to the Oilers thread to report back. I honestly don't know how him and two for truth get away with constantly riling up a fanbase
