You guys were talking about trading Phaneuf and even Kessel a week ago. Gtfo. - sanfordnson
I would trade both if I could.
Kessel isn't a Carlyle player, and if we couldn't resign him by the end of this year, I would rather trade him.
I also am not a fan of Phaneuf, so I would love to see him go.
Still not sure what this has to do with the conversation though |

Oh what a 4 game win streak can do!
- robin_steele264
Oh i've been on this for a while. Obviously everyone knows there's 5 or 6 guys that are keepers, but there's alot more to do and it may be hard without giving anything up. Trust me i am enviable of the Oilers position. I just think you guys should really try get Jones and it would be a massive step. Just my opinion. |

WHoever wrote this article is an absolute joke. Basically taking trolling to a whole knew level by forgoing the comments section and actually somehow getting a job.
First of all, its cheap and lame to use the Leafs in your title just because you know it will get you hits.
Secondly, Dion Phaneuf a salary dump? Contrary to what the mouth breathing portion of the fan base might tell you, Phaneuf is the best player the Leafs have and the Captain of their team. You think they would trade him for a salary dump? Even when you consider that if they buy out Mike Komiserik they are nearly 15 million under the cap. What a joke. Yeah the Leafs sure are in a hurry to move a top 10 player at the hardest position to aquire.
Secondly, if you think Bozak is a "third line" centre who a) would be traded or b) would play below Gagner if he was, then you are welcome to actually watch a Leaf game sometime.
The Leafs have found there "true number one centre" and he ain't going anywhere. Expect him to be resigned within days.
Oh and by the way, Phil Kessel would be the best player on your over rated team. Long term, I'll give you Hopkins, but jeez dude how you ever got a paying gig is frankly unexplainable. - Aquaman_2400

I know Edmonton fans like to talk about the pieces they would move to improve their team. Some trades make sense others dont, but what i think it really comes down to is the organization firing Steve Tambellini.
Edmonton was uncompetitive for 3 years in a row and didnt obtain any help through trades or FA during that period. This resulted in 3 first overall draft picks where Edmonton took the best player each year. But what about the 31st overall picks?
Tyler Pitlick (C) 2010
David Musil (D) 2011
Mitch Moroz (LW) 2012
These are all pretty high draft picks, and none seem like they will turn out. More importantly though, why arent all these picks Defense? How can a GM use all of their best picks on forwards and completely ignore defense? Perhaps the GM that created a team that finished dead last for 3 seasons shouldnt be the one to continue running it with 3 first overall picks on the roster. - Holy_Makinaw99
Are you kidding me? It took how long for Kadri to actually show something and youre on Edmonton about their 31st overalls? You clearly understand nothing about development and the time it takes so just (frank) off..
Wow...amazing what a win streak can do to people. |

Schenn and Gilbert was meant to be a joke. - Reveen
Ah, good...
I don't agree with a lot of Leaf fans on Phaneuf. They say he is a top defenceman because he does alright playing against the best players... The TOP defencemen to WELL agaisnt those players. Gunnarson is the best shutdown D we have. Even Kostka is better at it than Phaneuf right now.
His hits are all he has going for him and 1 out of every 15 shots goes on net. I'd trade him if we could get some value out of him, otherwise let him play out his contract. |

While I agree that your picks are nowhere near busts, to be fair, how many years have we been putting up with people saying Kadri is a bust?
I think I was one of maybe 5 guys on this site that was against trading him |

I agree with you that it takes a while to develop players, I wasnt suggesting that they should be on the team. What I am suggesting is that given the use of all the first overall picks on forwards, perhaps it may be prudent to use the 2nd round picks on defense so that the teams prospects dont become lop sided. |

You should likely punch yourself in the face for offering Whitney and a 2nd for Phaneuf.
He is not the Phaneuf of the past but he is still a solid top pairing D man. |

Everything. A week ago the sky was falling. Now it seems many Leafs fans are draft and development experts because of a 10 game stretch from Kadri, Frattin and Komarov. Its ridiculous. |

Bozak is not first line centre material. He's a very good third line centre. Fast, responsible, can put the puck in the net occasionally. But he doesn't produce enough to make him a good first line centre. |

You want facts !!
A.Hemsky - 439pts in 579 games (0.758 ppg)
P.Kessel - 338pts in 469 games (0.720 ppg)
S.Gagner - 233pts in 378 games (0.626 ppg)
Half sack falls somewhere between A.Hemsky and S.Gagner. - Reveen

Because of injuries, Hemsky averages 49 points per season, Kessel 56. Way more goals. It's not even close, there is no GM that would take Hemsky over Kessel. - Dirte
Hemsky has also only played 110 more games then Kessel even though he was drafted 5 years sooner (2001 vs 2006). |

Not impressed Clouts, pretty lame attempt at hits. And no I'm not just some Leaf fan here to get into it with you, last time I was here I was one of the Leaf fans defending you.
And if you must, wait till a Leafs losing streak before posting such a blog.
