The man grabbing Pacs was Liles and he did do a piss poor job.. but I still don't think it was his fault.. but would love to see him be the next man traded... lousy defender with very little offensive upside...
- DoctorNHL

as soon as Gardiner is ready to go ... Liles is next logical candidate for the assistance coaching ranks.

The upside of this, and there is upside, is the following:

1) Komisarek will be gone off the roster, and off the CAP hit through buyout or trade prior to that (I'm convinced that Nonis is softening ole Mikey up to a trade - i.e. waving the NTC - right now) CAP 4.5M to the good

2) Liles expendable with arrival of Gardiner and or the return of Gunnarson.
CAP 3.8M to the good come trade deadline or the summer

with a few younger guys to sign, such as Kadri, Fraser, Franson(Maybe), Kostka and Bozak, who should all be pretty inexpensive, that leaves a ton of CAP for acquisitions, even with a few guys that are a bit older and that they should resign ... Orr certainly deserves a couple of years more at 850-1M.

Nonis probaby doesn't have the same level of commitment to certain guys that Burke did... and understandably so.... and that's a good thing. Its pretty evident that one the ice Komisarek isn't missed.... they are doing better while expending considerably less money.

I could see Nonis, regardless of the Leafs place in the standings being VERY active at the trade deadline as a seller.
1) Komisarek - get anything you can (hell you could even take Luongo's salary in return (I kid)
2) Liles - expendable (Gunnarson, Gardiner)
3) Steckel (already replaced)
4) MacArthur (won't be resigned)
5) Franson - if Kostka keeps playing consistently (although I'd prefer to keep both)

I don't mean this unkindly to any of these guys (except Crapasarek) ... but you took anyone of them out of the lineup and replaced them with some of the younger players on the roster or with the Marlies, can anyone honestly say the team would be worse off.

The benching of Komisarek and the getting rid of Connolly have - in my opinion - cured the infamous blue and white disease. In other words, accountabilitiy. These moves have made me the most encouraged I have been in years.

to be clear i said i wasnt sure on that.

and montreal must of really wanted a suspension.. would of been a small victory for them in what was a massacre of a game

either way, maybe next time pax will think twice before trying to muzzle a guy with his forearm from behind.

No it was Atomic that said they weren't allowed not you... we both agreed with him... still do.. I think Montreal like you said was trying hard.

i know, i remember you saying that!

i think tonight is going to be a war! i predict a 2-1 victor for the leafs, Kessel with 1 and Kadri with the game winner.

- big_dion

i think there will be a bit more scoring.

but i think the leafs come out on top.. if they play at home the way they play on the road.

first game back after a road trip is always the toughest. if the leafs come out flat philly might take advantage of that.

i think 4-3 leafs if they play the same kind of game as they did saturday, 4-2 philly if the leafs come out flat.

I got 4 Hours yesterday for picking on an overly crying Hab fan.. but after an hour I couldn't take it anymore.. lol

The Mod who did it was nice enough to apologize for it.. as they were banning me.. quite touching really.

I have been banned 3 times in maybe 5 or 6 years.. each time I deserved it...

Best was the night of the riots.. I was sick of all the Van Cans trash... and riled them up.. predicted the riots before they ever happened.. and laughed all the way through it.. I deserved that one.. and was well worth it.

Agreed on all accounts but I thought this was Komi's last season anyways so no need to buyout.

You say the Leafs usually get screwed (I'm guessing unjustly) only to show a video of Orr punching a guy who still has his gloves on?

exactly.
so much as even skate past reimer with a menacing look and you should be getting a beat down.
i don't care how dirty the leafs have to play to get it across that they will no longer accept anyones bs.

- Barx

I have said many times that it would be worth it to see the Leafs send out some goon to crosscheck someone and knock out a few teeth once in a while.

yeah, of course there is no place in the game for this, but as long as the rules and referees allow for teams to be pushed around with very little consequence, it becomes necessary to stand up for yourself.

unfortunately Doc, Burke did see fit to give him 5 years of gold.

he gave Leafs Nation (I hate the label) a 5 year prison sentence.
