don't worry ... mark your calendar for Saturday night... "Don... what did you think of the Pacioretty-Grabovski altercation".... "well... don't interupt me... I'm just gettin' going here Ron (Hand pianoing on desk)... kids I don't want you to ever bite when you play hockey... and don't do that whining to the ref thing either... "....

think of the code...

That fight was total prison sex. I was uncomfortable yet slightly arroused.

honestly, taken in context, this is the singularly funiest single line zinger I have read in years... thanks for the laughs.

I'm tearing up as I type this....

I've seen the video. Everyone's up against the boards jostling and there are arms and hands all over the place. There's a Leafs' player just kinda riding MaxPac's back, not really doing much. That guy should have grabbed him by the back of the jersey and pulled him out of the pile, not just hold onto him from behind. I realize Plekanec was also getting his shots in next to him, but if the Leafs' player yanks either Maxpac or Plekanec off of him, he'd be able to get around on the player and fight as opposed to being crammed between 3 Habs and a ref.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Its easy for any of us to sit in the comfort of our living rooms and armchair quarterback this to death but none of us were there in that moment, under those circumstances. Regardless of what the other Leafs were or were not doing, Grabovski was at the end of a shift and had already jostled around with Prust a bit when he gets his mouth and nose covered by big bad Patches from behind. I don't know about you, but I need my mouth and/or nose in order to breathe, and I'm guessing Grabovski was pretty winded at that point. Biting isn't cool, but not not nearly as uncool as not breathing.

I will avoid this place like the plague if the Habs blow out the Leafs next time. It'll get ugly.
- sanfordnson

I think the next 'encounter' is late February at the ACC. I will be interesting to see what Montreal attempts to do to bulk up for the event... resign Laraque? ( I kid I kid)...

and the Habs fans will all be saying ... "now you Leafs can't start anything"... like it was the Leafs stirring it up in the first place.

It pains me to say this, because I'm not convinced that Carey Price isn't a really arrogant guy... but I felt really sorry for him on Saturday night... he must have thought Kaberle was in the line up.

I hear what you're saying, but someone just asked what he should have done, so I'm saying what he (or a teammate) should have done. So yes, that's what coulda, woulda, shoulda happened. It didn't, and he got away with it. I'm not down with biting, but if MaxPac thought it was all that bad, then he should also be willing to fight Grabo next game. And I'm also guessing he'll watch where he puts his ungloved hand from now on.

Kids never bite, what did Grabovski think he was eating, Alpo Suhonen, that is some kind of dog food, right? Let's Go.

So he was unable to wait 5 seconds? Or wait until the next game? Actually, a teammate should have grabbed him off or Grabo and punched him in the mouth.
- jmatchett

He was also twisting his head around like he was going to break his neck. Bite was well deserved.

Im 34. Watched them all comfortably. Even Leafs fans can look at past Stanley Cup victories...although they happened before colour TV and VCRs.
- sanfordnson

you don't want to start one of these arguements do you... how many Cups have the Oilers won with large goalie pads and a non-watered down league?

now your only in the 30s... so think carefully before you blurt out something assisine.

Don Cherry called the Jets coach that about 20 years ago and got in poop with the CBC.

The idiot thought he could get away with a little face wash when they went into the corner. Kostka just lost it on the guy. Good times.

so much as even skate past reimer with a menacing look and you should be getting a beat down.

Most of the players who played during the 80s had such highly inflated stats relative to other periods of time in hockey. Never again in the league will we see such a huge disparity between the skill of forwards and the skill of goaltenders.

Just so I understand what you're saying, to paraphrase:

"Whoever was not pulling the third man, who had Grabovski in a headlock, off of Grabovksi, it's his fault this happened". Is that about right?

the worst part of this whole episode ... is that it is taking focus away from what was a total a__-whooping of epic proportions that took place all over the ice... and of course the inevitable (and useless, poorly researched) human interest piece that Rosie Dimanno will "write" in the next three to four days - in which she will no doubt blame Canadian hockey, hockey parents, Don Cherry - he's such a dinosaur, Brian Burke because he resigned Grabovski, Grabovski mother and the Western Hockey League.

Now what they really should be focussing on is if hockey players had no front teeth, like was the case until at least the early 80's when the cages became fashionable in youth hockey... well... then there wouldn't have been a biting incident. So the real question is "should we eliminate cages and mouthguards therefore eliminating teeth to protect players from biting"?

Chew on that Rosie!

Agreed. The focus is on the bite and not the absolute domination in pretty much all phases of the game.

The man grabbing Pacs was Liles and he did do a piss poor job.. but I still don't think it was his fault.. but would love to see him be the next man traded... lousy defender with very little offensive upside...
