We finally have depth at all positions.

Why the rush to trade all these guys? It's a good situation to be in.

- Leeman4Gilmour

I think the feeling is that we wont be able to go far into the playoffs either way, so just get some assets now. I don't agree and I hope I'm wrong.

If he's a guy they're willing to fight, what exactly is he doing to scare them?
- Jeffmt

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Wait wait wait, are you guys arguing about whether or not mac should be started over Brown when Lupul comes back? Is that not blatantly obvious or is that just me?

Not to mention, I don't think Orr would have any problem taking the instigator and filling a rat to set the mood.

Brown has no finish.

MacA has some finish...that's what he brings...scoring depth...on a team with very little in terms of grade A offensive talent.

- Pen15

right now they've got quite a bit of offensive talent... especially on the wings.

A punishing, defensive winger looks good on their wing, IMO. Protect the youngsters.

dont need a middleweight guy with d-men like fraser on the ice.

same with kostka.. both are fine in that fighting class.

- Dozzer

I agree... though Fraser's not exactly a middleweight... just ask Prust

My argument was that if they're willing to fight him, he's not deterring them from being rats anyway.
- Jeffmt

Rats try to distract good players by agitating them and getting them to do something stupid. A guy like Brown negates that because instead of the rat being on the ice trying to agitate a talented player (like Kadri or Frattin for example), Brown, who can take a regular shift because he can both skate and hit, gets in the way.

Nobody is saying that Brown is a permanent 3rd line player. In fact, if he's in the lineup, he should play most of his time on the 4th line while a guy like McClement plays on the 3rd line. But Brown can also take a regular shift if the situation calls for it. He's not as limited as a guy like Orr who can't play a regular shift on most nights.

no - it's whether it allows Mac to be traded.

I don't think Brown has the hockey IQ of Komarov, or the finish of MacA. IMO, that makes Kadri & Frattin have to work harder for their chances, given that they have a guy that lacks those skills.

IMO, this team has more than enough toughness throughout the lineup (D and F). I also liked the dominance shown by the Kadri line tonight...and MacA contributed to that. If it were me, I'd keep the line in tact until they either run out of steam, or Lupul gets back.
