Keep Liles, at least for this season he has been a constant on our blue line since he got here Franson has been gold on the pp, but is way worse in his own end, when Gardiner is ready to come back he should be the odd man out! - ky678468
well - there's the dilema.
currently one could argue Liles has some value... but if Nonis takes him out of line-up for Gunnarson or Gardiner then the value goes down....
he should be dealing from a posiiton of strength and from my perspective, while Liles may be valuable now, he won't be one of the guys in 18 months.. by that time its likely Gardiner and possibly Reilly will be ready to go - fililng the puck moving role.
can anyone think of any teams who might be a contender come april who might have use for a puck moving defenseman?
Wow what's with the no love for JML, with half our D unproven at best you gotta have a couple vets back there to calm the young guys down, we got loads of good D prospects but i dont think they are NHL ready soon Morgan Riely maybe, but the others need time - ky678468
Sorry but I think he is the worst one we have.. and he was part of that albatross D that sunk us last year... trade him he is spare parts..

its not a case of no love... its a case of maximizing your assets... and opening opportunities for players to grow into
i) Liles is paid 3.8/year against the CAP
ii) Crapasarek is going to gone either by the trade deadline or via buyout
iii) add Crapasarek's cap hit (4.5M) to Liles cap hit (3.8) results in one VERY expensive premier player OR two pretty good middle of road players
iv) Liles should not be part of the core come season 2013/2014... and therefore its too much CAP to tie up in a guy who's not part of the longer term plan
v) there are at least two direct replacements for him already NHL tested (to some degree) who will be returning from injury relatively soon
When is Phaneuf gonna lay someone out on the blue line? Did he forget how to hit ? Otherwise most of the leafs are playing well , although Grabo better start scoring or his $5 mill salary is gonna look worse than Komisareks!

time to deal. - BorjeFan4Ever
Agree also next year he is one year older and his value will go down more.. don't want to get stuck with him.. time to strike is before the trade deadline..

For Phaneuf to play well he has to simplify his game more.. going for those McCabe type of hits only puts him in bad defensive positions.. I would rather he play a simpler but more effective positioning game.. and get his shots on net at the blue line instead of missing every shot by blasting it.. more like Franson of late..

he's had a few. He smoked Nash and OV. There was another good one.
Not like he's gonna get a highlight worthy hit every game = be out of position a lot if he did.

I just took one of those poos where it took like a thousand wipes, and now my bum burns. I should have just showered after that poo instead of get wipe burn. What do you think?
