largely true... except for two things.
1) Connolly - floater, lazy soft and supposed to be the 1st line center GONE!
2) Komisarek - supposed to be the tough stay at home defender and supposed to be a leader - riding the pine.
not real roster moves so I understand what you say... but bringing Fraser (done by Burke) and Maclaren and having them play - along with Orr who was apparently a victim of Wilson... has changed the nature of the roster. - BorjeFan4Ever
McLaren is a big dude, but watching him play in the defensive zone, doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

Who's this shut-down guy we are talking about now? - Atomic Wedgie
I would be pleasantly surprised if Holzer got to twenty points in a full season but defensively, I think he can do everything Schenn did but maybe better because he is a better skater, I liked Schenn but I like JVR more, it was a good trade. |

You don't dump Macarthur for purely nothing, or even dump.
but a fair trade of a couple draft picks for a roster player, that can arguably be replaced without a second look, because of the development of other forwards...
I personally feel Clarke has run his course, he wouldn't be missed. - aries1976
I would take a 4th for him..

MacArthur is an aggravating payer seems to be at the right parts of the offensive ice.. has a lousy shot and coughs up too many breakaways.. then is absolutely soft in covering back.. I am with you the faster we can trade him and Liles the better the results will be... - DoctorNHL
Liles has been good. Plays very well at both ends of the ice, moves the puck. 0 complaints. |

Good observation Atomic Luke was anything but a shutdown guy.. never seen so many tap in goals in front of the net.. and everyone was blaming the goalies who were hung out to dry.
That defence last year was atrocious!!
- DoctorNHL

was thinking a late 2, or early 3.... depends on what is being offered,
and possibly how well the player is going at the time of the deal.
if Westgarth and Loktionov can get a 5.. clarke can get a 2/3

You are a rotten, rotten person for making me remember those.
Do you know how hard I worked on forgetting those?
We must have set the record last year for number of unmolested, easy tap ins against.
I"m sure that's a statistic. |

Sorry has 5 points rushes to the net well.. point shots are telegraphed and blocked.. can't clear the zone with no one pressuring.. gets caught down low out of position.. and makes it too easy to score in front of the net.
I don't like him at all.. but just my opinion.. for me he is worse than Kaberle.. and yet we gave up a high 2nd rounder for him.. was of a good pick.

The best part was when the molasses caught up to him and checked him, but Schenn managed to get the puck back and keep going. - Atomic Wedgie
so true - the whole rush was slo-mo. |

is all fairness, we actually did quite well for Kaberle, when he was shipped off. |

I still don't have a good read on Holzer (just haven't seen him play enough) but looking at his stats, 20 points seems wildly optimistic.
I'd like to see our D have a bit more snarl to them. Schenn could hit, but he was never dirty.
Let's remove the welcome mat from the goal crease. |

Correct on all accounts... Montreal has been running Leaf goalies and Moen even attempted to drop an elbow on a downed Reimer in the first period on Saturday.. they don't get dirtier than the Montreal Midgets.. - DoctorNHL
I found it shocking (and I mean genuinely so) that during the first game in Montreal the Habs got an unsportsmanlike for snowing Scrivens. Now in years past perhaps that Habs player gets a quick talking to... but there's no way in h___ that any Habs player gets that penality five years ago... nevermind early. SImply no way.
I believe the Habs have lived high on the hog in terms of reputation based on past success... you probably don't have to think very hard of a game in recent memory when Montreal - behind by a goal or two early in the third gets that momentum changing power play or they get away with one themselves.
Not surprising that the players played like spoiled little kids... they are.
I'm sure if you could have a straight conversation with the Leafs players after Saturday's game, there's probably a lot that was going on... a lot more than you or I could see watching on the tube. |

Agreed Kaberle was always a stand-up guy and got a bad rap.. but if the Leafs wanted that type of play they could've resigned Kaberle who in his older years is a shell of the earlier one.. and not given up that great low second round pick.
Also with Gardiner & Blacker already on the books.. there was no need for Liles... period.. not to mention resign him.

Well thats just dumb. You would take a 4th round pick for a 60pt player? A second is the least i would take for him, but ideally i would want a player in return who can contribute now. |

he might be worth that to a contending team if he picks up his production before the deadline |

would be next to impossible to deal Macarthur for another "like" player.
wouldn't be at all insulted about a 2nd or early third, or a goalie prospect,
or even a center.
