Look at the cute little Habs fan. Hoping somebody else will do what the Habs couldn't, and got done to them.

with the ego that everyone who's met Wilson knows he has... you know it must be chewing him up right now... regardless of the money... essentially the same roster he couldn't do anything with, guys he didn't want Orr, Kadri, and a bunch of lunch-bucket guys.....

the stupidest thing Burke did (in my opinion) was the Wilson extension... there wasn't a single reason based on real progress that could explain it... I think BB just felt bad for WIlson because of the fire Wilson chants (which were highly entertaining btw).... you had to know the team has tuned him out when the penality kill began to improve after the new year... that to me was the sign that he was done.... players were either listening to one of hte new assistant coaches or they were doing themselves.

sometimes that happens.. players tune out a coach

i wonder if there is some validity to people suggesting thats what is happening in buffalo?

Out of all of this, I bet nothing major happens on the 27th, that is what usually happens.

I didn't actually see the third period, but frankly I'm surprised that the whole Orr fight incident isn't what people are focusing on.
- Atomic Wedgie

Atomic if you saw the whole Orr thing than you would see that he was within his rights.. Plakanec two handed him knocking the stick out of his Plakanec then kicked the stick down the ice.. that is when Orr.. got his head of steam.. and let up at the last second probably knowing he would be suspended if he laid a clean shoulder on him..

That is when Gionta rushed him with his stick up.. Orr grabbed him and shook him.. don't think he was going to hit Gionta.. unless Gionta punched him.. that is when Bourque face cranked him from behind and he turned and did this:

Nothing that Orr did was wrong.. the incidental knee was when he turned.. and he grazed him.. there was no actual knee on knee.. it hit him on the side..

The game is going to be important for both teams. It will probably be a close game. The problem will be if one team gets a big lead

That's the funny part. He's hoping someone can return the favour for them, but even in his dreams, he couldn't even hope it would be as bad as the raping they got.

I like the kid.. but he lacked a lot while playing for the Leafs under Wilson.. maybe under Carlyle's system he would've been better.. but I am glad you appreciate him.
- DoctorNHL

Even Carlyle didn't have much use for Schenn. I thought he'd be able to turn it around under Carlyle, but my theory on what happened was that the Leafs' management and coaching staff decided that, if they were going to have to work on a project, they'd rather work with a big forward.

JVR and Schenn both needed a lot of work, and JVR had more upside and filled a need.

I wonder if it is tuning out because maybe when a guy has been a coach so long and has not won, the players just don't have confidence in the coach any more?

I think the 6-0 shalacking is all that matters. Looking forward to Habs vs Leafs at the ACC
- God_then_kovy

I'd like to thank the idiot schedule makers - next Habs vs. Leafs game is on a Wednesday.

Seriously?

And here's another weird one for you: Saturday, March 2nd: no Leafs game.

Why?

Don't think Orr let up... he was going for the hit, but Pleks dodged it, that's when they clipped knees.

Seeing him drop all 3 habs forwards in 30 seconds was pretty sweet though

Because, despite what Habs fans will say, Orr did zero wrong, and didn't even try to knee on knee him. Look at the video, Orr turned, and Plekanec dodge BEHIND him. How do you knee on knee hit someone who is behind you?

Plekanec tried to jump out of the way. Anyone who has ever tried that on ice can tell you, you can catch your knee on something.

Yes, It just came to me that if it is a blowout it would probably escalate, usually it is all talk and no action, but I would be lying if I wasn't looking forward to the game, haha.

why? who the Habs going sign by then? they bringing back Laraque? is PK going to come out from behidn the bench? you think Moen is going to hang himself out there for a guy like Plekanec? I'm guessing that his teammates probably didn't have any kind words for good old turtlenecks great idea of waking the giant... just plain stupid... and that from a guy who supposed to be a smart hockey player.

maybe one of the leaders in the room (whomever that is) should speak with young Mr Gallagher and explain to him that it might not be the best idea to poke at the goalie who had his season ruined last year by your Captain's back side? or maybe they should talk to Prust about not picking his battles quite so selectively ... by avoiding Orr in Game 1 of the year and trying to find Brown (who kicked his butt anyway)...

me thinks there might be a few clickes in the Hab's room.....

I don't think it's that Carlyle didn't have much use for Schenn- because Schenn is very much a Carlyle player- it's that they probably felt they needed what JVR could bring more.

ACC booked on that date because of the lockout? If not it doesn't make sense.

In this day and age, with jillionaire players, every coach has a shelf life.

Ruff's act has grown stake, imho.

Doesn't make him a bad coach.

It's just time for a change.

Its okay - CBC is going to re-run this past saturday's game on a repeating cycle from 9:00am until midnight ... and it will be "real hockey day in Canada".

I hear what you're saying, but someone just asked what he should have done, so I'm saying what he (or a teammate) should have done. So yes, that's what coulda, woulda, shoulda happened. It didn't, and he got away with it. I'm not down with biting, but if MaxPac thought it was all that bad, then he should also be willing to fight Grabo next game. And I'm also guessing he'll watch where he puts his ungloved hand from now on.
- jmatchett

I think Max has a bit of a size advantage, but Grabovski isn't one to back down. It will be an animated affair next time for sure. Always love to see a good healthy hate between a couple teams.

Its amazing what a week in the NHL will do.

Suddenly the Devils are contenders, the Habs are horrible and the Penguins are overrated.

Except, last week, the Devils were not going to be able to keep it up, the Habs were the breakout team of the year and the Penguins were the best team in hockey.

A Schenn is a bit more easy to place than a player like JVR.

both were high end picks, but JVR really gives them something they haven't had in quite some time.

sure hope Hall's wearing the mouthguard.

if he decides to take a chomp out of someone, there could be serious damage.
