They didnt give a bad effort Sunday. As Crosby said, they came out really strong and didnt get a bounce early. It changes the complextion of the game. That's why they play a 7 game series. - Deadstar
That's the whole problem. They come out flying and if they don't score on their chances they become frustrated, take dumb penalties and get behind.
This team has a little bit of spoiled kid syndrome.
But at the end of the day they're 5-2 in their last 7 and have 8 straight winnable games on the horizon. Missing Letang and Niskanen against NJ didn't help.
Also, lets not forget we were 3-0 against the Devils in the previous 3 before this weekend outscoring them 15-5. |

You're right. I think the fatigue was starting to set in as well. They need more patience. Good point about 3-0 against the Devils until last weekend. Too many are already saying this is like 2011 while completely ignoring 2012. |

Fatigue definitely plays a part but that's just something everyone has to overcome. If Bylsma had any balls he would start sitting Malkin and Neal down after lazy penalties, maybe that will get the message across. |

I've been calling for that for two years now. I like Bylsma's style, but I would like to see some accountability. Lazy penalties, lazy passes, bad giveaways. Those kind of things should warrant some punishment. |

I can't imagine what would be said on here after a loss where he benched 71 or 18 for any significant amount of time during a game. Even if it was warranted. |

Malkin is without a doubt the worst offender with Neal a close second. The difference in discipline between the Devils and Penguins in puck play and penalties was night and day. |

They do just the same as most teams in the league. If your not one of the big guns you get benched. Despres hit the pine for 2 games. But if you are benching 87/71/18/58 even when well deserved you are playing with fire. |

I would applaud the action personally, even if we lost. I stick up for Bylsma, I think he gets blamed when he shouldn't, but one thing I can't argue is that he doesn't discipline stars. He has no problem sitting Jeffrey down but Malkin can take 3 slashing penalties in a game after losing the puck and not miss a shift.
I think sending a message like that would be heard loud and clear in the room. |

i dont want dupuis moved for boychuk but if they get a winger for sid, i think boychuk would be an improvement over dupes... boychuk isnt playing that bad, he is passing nice, he has speed, he just need to work on finishing but atleast he can hit the net... once he gets that first goal, the monkey will be off his back...if i had my way i would get two wingers for sid iggy and ryan
and for your comment earlier about the deadline.. I have read a couple reports that pens shouldnt wait until the deadline that they should pull the trigger on something earlier, with this shorten season, the next 2 weeks are must win games... now even more so that we lost 2 to the devils in 2 days... - nh4442

Haha someone was joking about that the other day. Why is it always the 4th line guy that gets benched or swapped out? Are his 4 minutes a game the real problem? |

The Devils didnt really trap until the 3rd. Deboer plays much more of an uptemp forechecking style. - Deadstar
I agree they forecheck harder than past Devils teams, but there's no denying they fall back pretty quickly and clog the neutral zone once the puck is turned over. It can't be any secret the Pens historically have not handled that well.......and from what I've seen so far this year, they still don't.

Did Sid lose the first shoot out stache game of the year? Because his stache is pretty creepy. |
