So let me get this straight? When they win 3 straight everything is wonderful. But when they lose two straight they need to blow the team up. Boom or bust much. |

It may seem that way but the Penguins were tactically dismembered on consecutive days to a bitter rival that has just went to the SC Finals. Considering the first round exits &c. I think it's wise to ask why the team hasn't mastered their system and can be that easily frustrated. It was supposed to be an asset. |

And they've handled the Flyers, Caps, Rangers, and Devils in different games. What is your point. They had off games it happens. |

You can't really say the Penguins have handled the Devils after this weekend. The rest of those teams are train wrecks, trust me, I know what one looks like. Wasn't Joe Sacco a capital for a while? It rubs off.
I would be very tired at this point of seeing the Penguins try their one-dimensional system on passive defensive teams and lose. That is my point; the constant in ugly, frustrating losses is a) not adjusting literally since the loss to Montreal to such teams, and b) not having the personnel to win playoff rounds playing the chosen style. |

Yeah the difference between those games is obvious. The Devils played strong and confident. Once they got a lead they strangled it. They didn't let Neal's goal bother them. They knew we weren't passing like that through the game and wouldn't do it much more. The Penguins 5-1 win had a lot to do with smarter play and the Devil's just about quitting once it got out of hand. Typical of most teams---even the Penguins who are 2nd in scoring.
We are. Very tired.
The personnel may be part of it but the other side of it and the more important side is just failing to play smarter with what they have. It's been mentioned that talent gets beaten by effort all the time. This team needs to focus on playing the right way and letting talent win out after. The Devils do that extremely well. They didn't represent the Eastern Conference because of just pure luck. They aren't flashy usually but they get it done. |

Wish we could play a simple game when we wanted to. TK/Tangradi have to go. They are not helping in any way. Clutterbuck/Setoguchi would do good to this team...+ I don't think we'd have to spend too much..

The Penguins played a lot of games in a short time span. I wouldnt worry at all about 2 losses to the Devils. Its 2 of 48. |

Yeah that would be fine by me. We could use a more physical group. Setoguchi is one of the few guys that had a pedigree that got washed away under a different system. Clutterbuck clearly plays with an edge and can hammer some pucks home given an opportunity. Yeo knows the Penguins system. It seems like cherry picking for Rossi and Russo to say the Pens and Wild could make trades because of history but its true. I'd make a swap of TK/Tangradi and a 2nd for those two |

Setoguchi wore TK's #48 in his rookie season. If he comes, hope the results are not similar.
We need this guy on the 3rd line |

In the grand scheme it's not so troublesome. The issue is more them playing a divisional opponent back to back after showing them up only days before and looking like sloths. Good teams can't afford to head back to .500 if their effort can help it. But yes, plenty of time. |

Doesn't help when your best defenseman is up in the press box either. |

Exactly it's a much different team with him on the ice. I don't mind making changes to the roster if it makes us better but making them in panic never works out. Shero knows they are making the playoffs so he can take his time and find the right trades for this team. I know they didn't look good at all the past 2 games but the prior 5 they were great. It's hockey it's a long season. You will have losing and winning streaks. There are some concerns that need to be addressed. |

They didnt give a bad effort Sunday. As Crosby said, they came out really strong and didnt get a bounce early. It changes the complextion of the game. That's why they play a 7 game series. |

When they don't strike early, they become frustrated and take stupid penalties. Malkin and Neal are the worst at this. Crosby, while he has alot of assists, hasn't started to get going really. He has been somewhat invisible to me in games. JMO

Again 5 games in 8 days. A lot harder to do for a team that who plays more of an uptempo style. |

The first period was good for the Pens, but they got systematically worked in the 2nd and 3rd. As someone said earlier, it doesn't help when Letang is sitting in the press box. Furthermore, they were forced to start 3 pretty inexperienced defensmen.......Reese, Bortuzzo and Despres. It's no surprise Despres looks skittish with Reese as his partner rather than Letang.
Excuses aside, for the past several years the Pens have not done all that well against good defensive, trapping teams. |

The Devils didnt really trap until the 3rd. Deboer plays much more of an uptemp forechecking style. |
