I feel like we are just going in circles here...

But this whole line of discussion started when someone said "maybe we can get Brown from LA"
And I said that'd be great

And then someone responded "why, Ruff will just ruin him"
Or something to that effect

I'm just trying to say that there have been a bunch of guys here that have done very well under Ruff

The talent here needs improving...
Pretending guys like Regehr have anything left in the tank,
Or Leopold is actually worthy of top4 min,
Well, that's just wrong IMO
And blaming Ruff for that is a cop out

I'm ok with firing Ruff,
But it's more on the players IMO than him

This is what happens when you have a coach for 15 years that has not won anything... we have regressed as a team in the past 4 years. We went from Division winner, to 7th seed, to no playoffs, now to a basement team. The players have changed, the coach has not, that's why people don't trust him. He's not very good at his job any longer

I didn't hear that he asked for a trade but I don't really think he respected Ruff much

Last year I sat next to tw guy who was an usher from 1969(bisons) to 2011. He was the head usher the last 8 years or so. He told me that at camp at the start of Drury's first full season as a Sabre, first day of practice Ruff has tw team take a knee at center ice and explains its the teams goal to get in the playoffs. Drury requests a meeting with Ruff. He tells Ruff he wants out because he doesn't just want to make playoffs. He wants a cup.

He may not have liked Drury's personality, but it didn't mean he didn't trust him when it came to his play on the ice.

I'm not saying he didn't trust him at all, just that Ruff doesn't like his captains to be captains. I think the post lockout credit should go to Drury not Ruff

The Sabres have really sucked under Ruff. Ruff had some success ruding Hasek's coattails. As soon as Hasek left the team sucked. I know there ere other variables but the personality of the team was soft. The attitude of the team changed when Drury showed up and the attitude reverted back once he left. For the last 5 years we have been a ten with a soft personality. No real character and we suck.

With the exception of a couple fleeting glimpses, Ruff has been a failure as a coach.

Briere had a 32 goal season with the Coyotes which equals his best year with Buffalo. He had more assists with us, but he had better linemates as well. In philly he had 34 goals his best year.

Drury had had seasons of 65 and 67 points with the Avs and his two best seasons with us were 67 and 69. Add his playoff production in Colorado and it would be hard to say he had better production in Buffalo.

Looking back at Drury's year with Calgary and found it funny that the Flames had Lydman, Boughner, Leopold, Regehr and Montador on their team that year.

If you actually go back and read what I put, I pretty much said that Drury was the reason they were good. He demanded more from all of his teammates. He forced them to play the way he wanted them to. It was him, not Ruff.

And this team has been looking for an identity and leadership since Drury left.

The organization is mess and I think Lindy is a big reason. Its time (3 years ago).
