Wouldn't go that far. Kid is making some really smart moves.

(frank) that would be the ultimate insult. Fired when they keep guys like GARTH, Engels and Esplen around.... |

Ya...and they had the same problem last year with scoring goals - then they won the cup. I do hear you though and think they may miss the playoffs this year but overall, that's a damn good team. |

A Doughty on our blueline would be massively valuable.
(frank)in Schultz though. This kid is the real deal. That backchecking steal yesterday was breathtaking. Anyone slagging his defensive skill clearly hasnt watched him play enough. - sanfordnson
My god yes. True, he's not the only guy who can chase down that breakaway attempt but it's the way he did. Slip. Yoink. My puck. Fukk you. Slick.

I have to admit that I was one pumping Whitney. I cant beleive how badly his play has falle off. He was an all star the year he went down. They were even talking about giving him the C back then. I was confident he would bounce back once healthy. He has sucked balls this year.
So The Oil are still 2 good D men and 3 forwards short. Hope we can shore up some of these spots soon. If I'm Tambi I do not trade away our first this year, but any other combo or prospects, picks, "tradeable" roster guys, for some improvement. But dont over pay either. At least some things have become clear. Where the holes are. - Iggysbff
Ya it's brutal when two of your top vets are just gross out there (Smyth).
It's pretty sad, Smyth is embarking on healthy scratch. |

Did we also see tambo give smyth a 2 (frank)ing yr contract??? He needs to retire at the end of this month... Man he and his agent fuct Edmonton management on that one... More than made up for that 100ishK variance they had a few yrs back... We should trade with the NYI as someone mentioned on twitter they are rumored to have interest.. |

No poop... Management sure dont know what the (frank) they are doing.. Playing tough guys 2 mins or less a game or not at all just wasted a (frank)ing roster spot for the past 4ish yrs... |

I do not get this either. So who wanted Hordi in the first (frank)ing place?
Kreuger and Renney seem of the same mindset with this guy.
I thought Freddy would give him more icetime. |

I think they only kept him because Eager was injured for so long. They fulfill essentially the same function on the roster, with Hordi being a better fighter and Eager being better at everything else. There's little room for a pure fighter on a modern NHL roster. |

If Hordichum didnt hurt himself or take a stupid penalty in the first shift, not many would willingly fight him anyways and hed usually get tooled when he did. Absolute waste of a roster spot.
Is Peckhams 240+ because of protein shakes or chocolate shakes? If hes playing as well as Ive heard then him and Fistric could really create some fear back there. Never been much of a Peckham fan but could he be much worse than Whitney? |

I disagree
1 Top 4 Dman, to replace NSchultz as he drops back to play with Fistric...Potter stays as #7
With the Top 6 pretty set (slightly debatable) I see there is really only a need to tweak the bottom 6.
Harti, MPS, Jones, Eager, Belanger...I add Lander to play Bottom 6 C while Horc is out...but Horc is still a good bottom6 C...Maybe a Tougher 4th line C that can actually play...
I really do not think we are as far as some think...Add mass to Nuge and Hall. Maybe add a bigger winger that can play Top6.

God no. We welcome him with open arms. Even if the giveaways are equal and I'm not even sure Pecks would be as bad at this point, at least Theo would bring jam. |

Could be as slow as Whitney with less smarts. While we're sitting Whitney in the press box AND playing Potter AND Potter isn't even scoring, it might be worth a shot. |

Nuge will never add enough mass, unless he hits the juice.
I don't see this top 6 ever winning a cup, they lack too much. None of them will ever be players that constantly take the body on the oppositions d, the def awarness isn't there either. |

This is an important point. You look at Boston in 2011, they've got a couple of 210+ pound guys and a lot of guys hovering around 6'1" 200 lbs. Not small by any means, but not as huge as they're made out to be. It's not the weight that made them physically dominant though. It was a willingness to play the body and Selke-calibre defensive awareness from Bergeron and Krejci.
Obviously guys gain confidence in their physical tools as they get older and stronger, but I'm not expecting Eberle or Nuge to become tight-checking power forwards. We'll have to make changes to compliment what they can do. |

I'm not really positive about much right now save the emergence of Dubnyk/ Shultz early on but to my mind, Nuge and Ebs defensive awareness will continue to get better.
Nuge for Selke in 4/5 years. |
