This season is surprisingly similar to last year. We start off hot but the injuries mixed with lack of roster depth and we are a very bad team again. To get outshot that badly by the "worst team in the league this year", according to most analysts is pretty embarrasing

I'm somewhere between you and Ruttager on this.
I thought for sure they would lose after the Detroit game for the very reasons that have plagued them the last 5 games.

The fact that they won - even though they know they were poop, perhaps still breeds a little more confidence in their psyche. Big picture.

Anyway, they have a bit of a break next week to actually have a few solid practices.

Thing about it is, those 6 games they have had issues, they have gotten points, if not for whitney and smyth, i think they get at least on yesterday. Besides people always seem to forget, when ya play a team that is considered to be bad, they can come out and have a good game from time to time. The oilers have been a bad team the last 3 years and have outplayed better teams on occasion. Could be worse. Look at how well Washington, Philly, and the Kings and Rangers are playing this season.

People like to think about CBJ simply in terms of a 30th place finish last year and forget how much the look of the team has changed since the trade of Carter and Nash. They didn't exactly get terrible sh!te back for those two (frank)ers.

Ya big picture The season is 48 games this year, not 6. The big picture is the Oilers scored 5x5, shorthanded and an empty net. And yet you still think the sky is falling.

We b*tch about certain aspects of certain players' games that need improvement both when they win and when they lose. Of course we're all stoked that we won, but no Oiler besides Smid and Dubnyk truly deserved this win. The fact that you can't stop and reflect on a team's performance as a whole and only looking at the few positives in the game is frankly disappointing. I'll lay it out for you:

Dubnyk played outstanding.

Smid played solid.

Fistric, Petrell, and Belanger played relatively well.

Petry, Schultz, Eberle, Paajarvi, Gagner, and Hartikainen played bordering on bad.

The rest of the team, including Nuge, Yaks, Hall, and Hemsky were straight bad.

Smyth was God awful.

I'm with Sanford and Hugeb1tch 100% in this... This team is in trouble, unless things change. The "big picture" is not that Dubnyk won a game for us today... The "big picture" is that we've been playing like sh1t for far too long now, and we have no god damn mother (frank)ing system in place... Do our overpaid management/coaching staff not see this? Are they really this stupid? Our players are constantly skating around like they don't have a (frank)ing clue what's going on, because they don't!!!!

They have no business getting outshot 40-15 by (frank)in Columbus. This is not a one game phemomenon. They get brutally outshot every game. Dubnyk aint gonna save their asses every game.

Kings won a cup last year because of a goaltender. Not gonna happen with the oil this year, but it's about coming up with a better record than last year which I will bet all my star wars lego's that they will. Except My Millenium Falcon. I never bet that. Just need to trade whitney, kill smyth, get some bigger half decent defensive minded players for them in return, and they will be fine.

Can I also point out that about 20 of CBJ's shots came on penalties that Smyth took. Different game when the shots are lopsided cause of his stupidity.
