The last scenario is most likely. I know it seems too coincidental, but this team has freak injuries constantly, for (frank) sake we just lost a hall of fame defenseman to what the naked eye perceived as a two week ordeal last season . Talbot got hurt iirc from a Matt Carle shot in practice last year, the list is endless, so maybe just maybe this one time, the freak injury works out in the teams favor and I say that without trying to take a poop at leighton. The guy is right up there with Mitch Williams in this town, it's getting sad.

As for his chance at a pro team if that's the case then they should ha e just let him walk last season but hey who knows that could very well be it too.

Could also be a simple case of knowing that they'll need the back up to play at least one, if not two games in the next week and Boucher has been playing in the AHL regularly for the past month, wheras Leighton's been facing half speed practices.

Can't believe Mitch Williams left that pitch dead down the middle. That ball was crushed along with the hopes of winning a title.

I'm much more of a rocker

There's old videos of the Who out there, and they look like an advertisement for the "Mod" look, from the toes to the tip of their hair.

No I did, but I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings...smoking a lot of thai stick...breaking into the ROTC... and bowling. To tell you the truth Brandt, I don't remember most of it

One theory I have on this, and it's a bit ridiculous, but sometimes, with this team...

Maybe Holmgren's giving Leighton's agent a chance to beat the bushes and convince a team to put a claim in on him so he can stay in the NHL and this "injury" is buying him time to get something done.

But that seems real unlikely. More likely is Leighton tweaked something, and it got worse over the last few days and they didn't want to risk it.

whatever it is, it's not worth risking

Do you really think he played that bad in his one game start? I thought the Flyers in general were not very good.

More risking him starting a game, and not being able to finish and force Bryz to have to play a game and a half of a back to back

He wasn't awful, but he was far from good. The Flyers played like crap that game, but he was fighting every shot.

Will see how Boucher does this upcoming week. He's always been a capable backup.

The Flyers should go undefeated on this road trip.

He's not hurt. He was the backup in yesterday's game. How could he have gotten injured since then?

I'm glad the Flyers came to their senses and made this move. They made a mistake signing Leighton, they realize this, and have replaced him quickly with very little damage done.

Leighton is hurt. You dont just make this up. I would be disappointed if they lied about his injury. Just be honest if you dont think hes ready to be the backup for whatever reason. Its understandable b/c he hasn't played in years at the NHL level. Now if they want to cover their mistake thats fine but he played in one game.

I think they could pick up 8 points. Anything better than that and I'm ecstatic with the trip. It's a rough schedule and there's a couple teams that are matchup trouble.

Will find out how good this team is. Will learn a lot about the character of this team on the trip.

Honestly, even a team with great character and solid veteran leaders running on all cylinders would be taxed on this trip. Two back to backs, then it ends on a 4 games in six days slog from NJ to Montreal, back to NY and then out to Pittsburgh.

6 points is probably more realistic than 8

The only thing that might be hurt is Leighton's feelings when Holmgren told him he isn't playing anytime soon.
