This (frank)ing team is getting embarrassing... How the (frank) do you only score one goal against Detroit? If we do not win by a landslide today against CBJ we may as well blow this team up... FFS I am so sick of cheering for loserville tambo should trade one of the band aides for some A535! Either Nuge is hurt or he is not... (frank)ing kid is gonna take 3 more yrs to grow into an 18yrold body opposed to his 12yr old one currently..

They need a couple players that wanna win as bad as they wanna breathe. Until then they will always be a bottom 5.
The compete level needs to come up

I like Peckham but we have a need at center

Reasner would not be on my list. Physical hard working players is whats needed.
Maybe Boyle, Gaustad?

Actually I was only quasi sarcastic... Nuge really pisses me off with amount of injuries he has had so early in is career... How much wt did he actually gain this offseason? I bet its not much... It was a concern when he was drafted and now it's proving to be true... He has the game and mindset of a superstar only problem is his body is a 12yr old...

6'1" 185lbs is slight that is for sure but it is not inconcievable for an 19 year old kid to fill out totally by what 23-24.
Hell look at Hall from year 1 then year 2 this year he looks like a monster compared to year 1.
Is it also possable for Nuge to suffer from a bit of sophmore slump?

Didn't Nashville give up a first rounder for Gaustad. I don't think he would come cheaply

Same for Eberle. He's much stonger this year. It'll come for Nuge. He threw a few big checks last game.

News for today:

Whitney out tonight. Fistric in.

Also Yak playing with Nuge/Ebs, Hall with Gags, Hemmer.

I like those lines better to be honest.

Hall never looked like he was meshing with those two. I'm excited to see the Hall-Gag-Hemmer line

I would argue that Hall and Ebs have been great together. Its been Nuge that has looked out of place.

I wish Jones would get back. I think he would add an element of energy and grit that the bottom 6 needs.

Hmmmmmm sarcasism I like it.
After watching the Detroit game the true stories
in the game right now our P/K sucks, any team with Howard in net
will be tough to score on, any team with Datsuk and Zetterburg on it will be tough to win against.

- longbottom

ahhh the mediocrity accepting, oiler apologists are doin their thang.

a little wisdom for ya. it's hard to stop 5 on 3's. like real hard. u pretty much just have to get lucky and hope. it's basically a shooting gallery.
detroit scored 1/2 like that. this wasnt neccasarily a reflection of bad penalty killing. they scored a couple, but we had 8 chances too!!
our penalty kill is top ten in the league. (inconvienent truth i know)

alot of teams have beaten detroit. 5 in their first 10 games actually.
tough time scoring because of howard? hes a pretty good goalie yes. far from elite though. as far as goals against theyre nothing special this year. in the bottom half of the league actually. which indicates many teams have been able to score on howard.
WE ARE DEAD LAST IN 5 on 5 GOALS. AND STILL BOTTOM COUPLE IF YOU INCLUDE PP.
these numbers arent up for debate, they're facts. which means u can't say 'ummmm' a thousand times or use a bunch of emoticons to disprove them.

stop making excuses and really watch the game. forget how enamored u are with all things blue and orange for a couple hours and try and watch objectively. just once.

it mystifies me how someone who loves the oilers so much can misunderstand the game so drastically.
or is it just a defensive mechanism?

A quick thing about the Islanders. Hall has proven he can take center so Gagner's place is not secure by any means. I don't think he will be traded (although I think his value is finally as high as Oiler fans think he is worth) but he could find himself on halls wing if he doesn't start winning draws. Hall played center a long time ago so it is not a stretch for him to switch to that role and gagner has played wing for the Oilers.

Which means the player the Oil want from the Islanders could be a winger. I want to preface this by saying that I think the Islanders wanted to trade with the Oilers and not the other way around and that no trade will happen. I think the player is indeed Visnovsky. He obviously has no intentions of taking to the ice for NYI and I think that attitude will be terrible for the dressing room. He asked to be traded from the oilers but that had to do with MacT if my sources are correct. Either way, he is not soured by the Oilers, just the coach and they are now a new team, new coach and new GM. I don't think he will stay past this season but it is going to be a simple Whitney for visnovsky trade they were looking at. Simple enough in the fact that Islanders get a player who will play for them and might sign with them after and Oilers get a better player for a while. Someone who at a time had offensive skill that was outstanding and might be able to provide some to the team. I suspect the Oilers wanted a conditional draft pick if Whitney signed with them after. That is what I would have asked for since they know they don't want/can't sign visnovsky. Whitney may suck but he is worth a late draft pick at the trade deadline.

As for the lines tonight, I am excited to see Nail moving on up. He is confident, lets see if that inspires the same in RNH who has seemed hesitant. More than just an injury, he seems to not be taking the shots or having consistent poise. A spark is needed for that line. They are good but they could be great.

As for Smid and Fistric, this line was fate. I appreciate smid and what he does taking the body but he is more of a heads up shut down player. Fistric on the other hand is more fun to watch. I am sure part of me way way way deep down inside feels bad for the people he crushes while I am laughing but he has to be resigned. If we are going to have young small forwards, we need a Larque type dman that can take people to task when they take liberties with them. Hats off for when Smid did but I think we need fistric and a fourth line player that can send a message. I think our PK just got better.

As for Potter and Petry, I think they can be okay. They are not terrible. Potter may be the weakest link out there but considering our past years, we are lucky to have him be our weakest link as we have had way worse players.

Columbus is a messed up team right now so I don't know who we will face. They benched their top guy for the third period last night for some problem with the coach. I follow them as I got stuck with a few of their players in my hockey pool. I like our odds.

and why does someone saying tambs should try and make a move to improve the team after 5 straight losses in a shortened season, infer blowing it up?

i guess i realize by using exaggeration like "blow it up", one might think he drives the opposite point home furthur. but in reality it proves nothing other than showing that one doesnt have any valid retorts or logical responses.

A) Do you even NOT try and write a thesis paper?

B) Vishnovsky has already played for NYI, did so last night. He has already started to try and fit in there by studying his teammates on the team site, so he can recognize them.

C) Oil PK is Top 3rd in the league. You are talking like they are much worse.

D) Petry is one of the better defencemen on the team. You are comparing his play to Potter?

I keep hoping the Oil will challenge the Canucks because I can't stand them

You Oiler fans have the patience of Mother Teresa as you wait for the kids to mature

You must all get tired of talking about draft picks after losing to an old Detroit team

Of all your young guns I see Hall as the most expendable

- PEIHawkFan

So we are sitting here talking about how size is our biggest problem and then you figure hall is the most expendable at 6'1 200, sure lets trade him for Jeff skinner

Unless the Oilers plan on trading down in the draft, there is no way they pass up on better options prior to Lazar. They wont be in the top 3-5 for picks (I say that but that assuming they dont crap the bed the 2nd half of this season) but they wont be in the bottom half of the draft either. Thats about where Lazar will end up going. Somewhere between 20-30.

Nichushkin, Lindholm, Shinkurak, Fucale, Zadorov, Nurse are just a few of the better options to round out the top 10 that the Oilers would be crazy to pass up on. Lazar will be a solid player out of the draft but if the Oilers reach for another Oil King like they did last season when they drafted Moroz in the 2nd round (WTF was that) then someone at that draft table will need a serious kick in the junk.

Depending where they finish, if they tank a bit but not enough to get one of the guys you mentioned, elias lindholm is a great 2 way center. And he's swedish. I like swedes
