I keep hoping the Oil will challenge the Canucks because I can't stand them

You Oiler fans have the patience of Mother Teresa as you wait for the kids to mature

You must all get tired of talking about draft picks after losing to an old Detroit team

Of all your young guns I see Hall as the most expendable

- PEIHawkFan

You must not watch much Oilers hockey. I'd say Hall is our least expendable. Only guy in our top 6 with size at all, only legit top 6 LW on the roster. Aside from that his heart and determination is irreplaceable. Sure we're sick of losing, but trading Hall is the exact opposite direction that this team needs to go

Non Oil fans go on about Ebs and Nuge, but Hall is the heartbeat of this team. Anyone that watches knows he dominates possesion while one the ice. There is a reason most experts consider him the best skater in the game today.

Buffalo is a team I believe the Oil should look to make a trade with.
They have enough toughness/size on the team to trade a few away.
Oilers should chase Myers and Ott.
Tyler Myers was a healthy scratch and Ott has been ok.
Send some talent the other way and both teams win.

Yes, because 11 games in tells the entire story about how a season went.

Remember the Oilers for the first 14 last season? Remember how the next 68 games? Exactly.

Now turn your hat sideways and boo boo away.

I'd love Myers, but I'd hate to see what the Sabres want for him. Ott is an interesting fellow. He'd definitely bring some character.

Ott on a line with Eager would be interesting.
Myers , well you have to pay to play and it would cost some talent.
Staying small is a mistake and is the main issue in Edmonton.

The amount they have invested in Myers I would hate to see the asking price. I would take him in an instant otherwise.

Edit: Plus the details of his NTC are not clear.

I think because he's signed to an AHL only contract that waiver rules would not apply.

I'm not positive, but pretty sure that they would just need to sign him to an NHL contract if they choose. So it wouldn't be a callup situation.

While he's looking great in the A, i'm not sure he still has NHL wheels though.

It would really be something if he could get up to speed. I'm sure the Oiler brass is watching him very closely.

- steveb12344

I was listening to an interview with him and yes he talked about having knee problems in Ottawa and that is why he lost most of his speed but the knees are no longer a problem. That being said he said he is faster than he was in Ottawa but seeems to think has more work to go with his speed.
What I like about him is his attitude a need to prove he isn't finished. Say he continues on and get an Oiler contract would 10-15 goals from a third liner be too much for him considering he has scored over 50 in the past. Would he be a good transitional player until we find a good long term solution? Considering he is what 36 now and seems faster than both Smyth and Horcoff how would he look with both of them as a 3rd-4th line?

I doubt Whitney is going anywhere with his NTC. Especially to NYI.

The only thing from NY that makes any sense is Nino or a Center like Bailey or Nelson.

Going the other way I could see Hemsky or possibly (you'll hate me for suggesting) Petry. Isles need D.

My guess:

Petry and Hemsky for Nino and Lubo.

- Iggysbff

Whitney still has a NTC. He was traded once already and we did not renew a contract with him?

The oil should throw some money at Clowe and Enstrom. Then buy out horc and sign a legit 3rd line center with size.. Brian Boyle. Get a couple 4th line bangers

Let Whitney and Potter walk. And force Smyth into retirement.

Hall/Nuge/Ebs
Clowe/Gags/Yak
Harti/Boyle/Hemsky
Jones/Belanger/PRV-Eager-Brown-

Enstrom/Schultz
Smid/Petry
N. Schultz/Fistric-Peckham

This (frank)ing team is getting embarrassing... How the (frank) do you only score one goal against Detroit? If we do not win by a landslide today against CBJ we may as well blow this team up... FFS I am so sick of cheering for loserville tambo should trade one of the band aides for some A535! Either Nuge is hurt or he is not... (frank)ing kid is gonna take 3 more yrs to grow into an 18yrold body opposed to his 12yr old one currently..

Even with Myers being a healthy scratch Buffalo is in no way giving up on this guy. It would cost us a lot more than we would be willing to pay for him

Wow an actual believable trade proposal on this site. I hope you get banned for life sir. But in all seriousness, I could see this happening. The Oilers love Marty.

One of those grey area's. He is still listed as having a NTC, but was traded twice with it. Does it still apply? Who the (frank) knows anymore?

Hmmmmmm sarcasism I like it.
After watching the Detroit game the true stories
in the game right now our P/K sucks, any team with Howard in net
will be tough to score on, any team with Datsuk and Zetterburg on it will be tough to win against.

All the haters were going on about Edmonton losing games 6-5 this year. I said that was ridiculous. Oilers problem last year, and so far this year is goal scoring depth. Shut down Line 1, take your chances with Hemmer screwing things up for his line, and you dont have to worry about anyone else. Until we get more depth, teams will keep playing us this way. All losses this year by one goal (except the SJ game). Improved, but not quite there yet.

Actually I was only quasi sarcastic... Nuge really pisses me off with amount of injuries he has had so early in is career... How much wt did he actually gain this offseason? I bet its not much... It was a concern when he was drafted and now it's proving to be true... He has the game and mindset of a superstar only problem is his body is a 12yr old...
