The had their chances... they worked hard, and should have had @ least 5 goals tonight!!!

I'm disappointed with the loss, but not the effort!!!

Nabby has been mediocre to bad every game so far. Without a decent goalie we will lose.

For all their shots, there were maybe single-digit actual scoring chances. Too many weak wristers from the point with no one in front, shots from the outside into the crest...not going to beat NHL goaltenders that way. They didn't take advantage of all their hard work and all the time spent in the offensive zone.

I cannot help to think there are serious issues in that locker room. You never seen guys diving to block shots and stand in front of the net for deflections. It does not look like many guys want to be on this team right now.

Thomas will never play for this team. I would like someone who actually plays???
- mighty13duck

you really dont know that for sure.. they might do the same thing they did to Nabby
Thomas is a veteran winning goalie which the isles will always look for to help the kids into the NHL

Moulson needs to bury the puck. Boyes is just not good. Not even close to PA level(sorry) Aucoin is playing like an AHL player again and KO is just terrible.

Would like to get a long look at Poulin. Might take a Nabby trade or another DP injury though.

Thomas said he will not play this year and next year who knows but I would like to win now. What will be our goaltending next year? DP and Poulin?

Poulin is not a great goalie he is basically average this team needs a Lundqvst type goalie to win. Especially with this defense. Poulin will be no better than Nabokov.

I don't know...they blocked 14 shots tonight. Buffalo didn't put many shots to the net to block, to be honest. I thought they played fine...good even...especially on offense except for their shot selection. I only remember one save by Miller that made me say, "Wow, good save!" For all that time they controlled play, they could have made life a lot more difficult for Miller, imo.

No Lundqvst on the horizon. Nabby is not the future and you might as well trade him now. Poulin or Nilsson need to show if they can be NHL goalies. I'm not sure if we can write off Poulin or Nilsson at this stage.

Either 1 of the kids, and Thomas is probably Snows vision
Dp will be amnesty at end of this yr, or def by end of next yr before it expires
all depends on what players are brought in, and salary cap situation

The effort is misguided- it's clear they have the talent, at this point. What they don't have is the coaching or discipline. The pass Moulson tried to make across the ice at his own blue line was a perfect example- they were hemmed in their own zone for nearly two minutes after that. A player who does that is being taught to move everything forward as quickly as possible- that's how you play shinny, not NHL hockey.

Yes, Buffalo only had 15 shots- but 8 of them were legitimate scoring chances, because no one on our team is taught how to clear the front of the net. No one is taught to stay back to ensure against two on ones, or breakaways. Everyone goes forward, as soon as ANYONE on our team touches the puck. That is not how you play hockey at this level. Someone figured that one out a LONG time ago, and the people who still don't get it are the ones who wonder why the Devils are good every year.

I've kept my criticism of Nabby to a minimum knowing just how bad our dmen and forwards are at defensive responsibilities but I can only think of one or two games where Nabby has been above average. you can't win if you can't score but you also can't win if you always have to score a lot.

Hemsky has definitely been playing well. A tad selfish, but I can't blame him yet as this is the first time he's really ever had talent similar to his own on a line with him. Whitney has been, to put it bluntly, flat out bad. His injuries seem to have cost him his agility that made him the effective player that he was and that's played a part in exposing his other deficiencies, particularly defensively. He's also been rumored to want to be back East where he can be closer to home. Maybe a trade could revitalize him.

Regardless of how weak Streit has played, he'd be an upgrade from Whitney and could provide another veteran presence on a very impressionable young team.

Great sounds like a awesome trade for us

Watching the pre-game, and I think butch just said when bailey is on his game he's better then anyone else in the NHL . Guess butchie already has a couple drinks in him already. And apparently in his world that means he's better then Stamkos, ovechkin, Tavares, Crosby, or Malkin. God just go home butch.

He also said Visnovsky really wanted to play for the Islanders and it was all circumstance why it took him so long

It's a bad sign they could not find a way to win with all the shots. After that Ranger game the effort had to be better as it could not be any worse. I still think there are major problems in that room.

Nabby played bad. Definitely part of the problem. But if you don't convert countless chances that you get, then games end up coming down to a bad save not made.
