You know what dirty and gritty wins you a cup. I'm actually happy we are playing TOUGH. I've seen a lot of*u$$y a$$ leafs teams in the past couple of year. im sick of it
I say hit them and hit them hard .... Its been too long GO LEAFS GO - TrueLeaf07
Dude I totally feel you... I don't mind the Leafs team that lost and competed.. and played tough.. but to lose and lose weakly really pissed me off.. that is why Burke in the end did deserve the hammer he didn't give us what he promised..
I think the leafs still need a Lucic type guy on the top lines.. hopefully Biggs can be that guy...

Never gets old for us.. when one of your cohorts comes in and talks smack about Orr.. besides because of Wilson Orr didn't play against the Couve last year... didn't play much at all under Wilson..
With Carlyle he starts every game.. and Ko'd Scott from Buffalo

What an absolutely awesome game. Definitely the biggest win over the Habs since the last game of the season in 2007, even though this game didn't really have anything on the line. Looked like the Leafs decided to treat the Habs like the Bruins treat the Leafs. Pretty good payback for the Mats Sundin night debacle. The Habs really shouldn't try to fight though. Not exactly their strong suit. Maybe Georges Laraque has some gas left in the tank and a few bills to pay. If all else fails, I'm sure George St. Pierre can skate a shift or two. |

Doesn't count. Frattin wasnt on the 2nd line. |

GSP is way too small for Gooning it up.. besides he can't double leg them and take them down...
Like you I thought that was the best the Leafs looked in 7 years or more... impressive crushing... of the Habs

GSP is not known for a punch ko... he has head kick ko & and many victories by GnP but none of that is legal in the NHL... he weighs 170.. wouldn't be Koing big goons.. I love GSP but a better selection for Hockey Goon would be Shane Carwin or Junior Dos Santos.. HW's that punch heavy.

The trained, professional fighter, even at 170 pounds (that's what he fights at, doesn't mean he walks around at that weight), still has a great advantage over any hockey goon, even if they are bigger or heavier. That's part of the reason why people practice martial arts in the first place. |

I'm sure there are a few goons who do the odd bit of MMA training on the side and are probably a bit more comfortable tussling on skates than GSP. It's not like he could jump on the ice mid game and destroy everyone. |

I feel you.. I covered the sport for a while.. MMA is one of my favs.. I understand MMA pretty well... trained when I was younger and appreciate the excellence of MMA fighter abilities... GSP walks around at 188 avg.. weight.. over his career.. playing hockey he would lean up a bit from the training & games.. would be more of a Darcy Tucker type of scrappy player.. not a HW.. Carwin & JDS would throw bombs.. would KO HW's especially Carwin who throws probably the heaviest punches but lacks the cardio.. and technique to beat all around fighters like JDS or Cain.. or even Cormier.. who also pops a huge hammer. |

A few MMA lessons on the side compared to UFC championship grade MMA is pretty far apart. Goons, for the most part, are at best, amateur fighters by comparison. Tussling on skates is very different but if a guy like St. Pierre could skate, he'd probably knock guys out as they're trying to move in and grab him. It's pretty irrelevant anyway. It was just a joke. Nobody is actually expecting the Habs to sign up St. Pierre. |

Exactly.
GSP even at 170, could take on the goons rather easily.
You explained it best... The best NHL fighter is at best an amateur fighter (boxer). GSP fights against the best in the world and while he may not win with his fists against the elite, he can surely win against your average scrub and your best goon. |

Ok the Leafs kicked ass and beat up the Habs.
And that has evolved into Colton Orr vs. GSP
