They need to protect the goalies, but need to get a grip on incidental contact or being pushed into as part of the play...
- Flyfreaky

The Kadri interference call (I think it was last game?) was terrible. He was driving the net and the defenseman cut off his lane. That kind of contact happens. It shouldn't be a penalty. The question the refs need to ask is "could the skater avoid the contact?"

It's mens rea and actually reus. Need the act AND the intent when it comes to this call

I think there are about 4 or 5 countries that have a better goalie. Some have multiple.
- prock

I know that all the focus is on Canada's goalies, but I'm more concerned about the defense.

There just isn't that same, dominant pairing or two back there. No 30 minute per night Pronger/Neidermayer.

So? Canada will have a ton of offense.

When it comes to the goalie you just need one good one, and price fits that bill.

Agreed...

P.S..

LOL i replied to Dozz with exactly the same thing as u did .

Yes, I see that. I remember Chara, in Long Island and Ottawa and he was awkward as hell, on his skates. It took him 10 years to become an Allstar. When the Leafs used to beat the Sens in the playoffs, they'd work over Chara, in the corner and half the time, he'd be out of the next game. Problem with doing that now, since he went to Boston, is the quality of other defencemen that are on the Bruins roster.

Hey - you forgot to mention top three in the league Corey Schneider. I'm sure the Canuck fans feel he should start ahead of Miller, Quick or ANderson... and that it should be Luongo in net for Canada... unless of course Luongo is traded.
- BorjeFan4Ever

Schneider could put himself in the conversation in the next couple of years, but he isn't right now.

I hear ya but sometimes if a deal looks good for both sides u have to take a chance..
- Fruitcakenipple

Okay fair enough, but I'm not a big fan of his so you're not gonna get me to agree lol

The goaltender issue is a perfect example for properly using replay...The intent is always the key issue in protecting the goalie...The Flyers also got hosed out of a goal this year when incidental contact occurred at the top of the crease...I almost blew up...

in a short tournament, if you get a hot goalie you can go far.

USA went to the gold medal game on the back of Miller.

Selection camp will likely be this summer... Not looking good for Schneider.

I'm guessing luongo (incumbent) price and smith

That's just my opinion so take it as you may

yes, I know. The D and forwards will both be the best in the tournament, without a doubt. The goaltending will be the weakness.

I don't get why Canada hasn't produced any elite goalies in recent years. It's weird.

Id definitely take the gamble on myers if we could trade for him, depends what we give up
- Mapleleafs_91

Thats the thing...

He has a pretty ugly contract given his play last year and so far this year...It would have to be for the right price when taking on a contract like that for a kid who has been struggling for an extended amount of time..The market for that contract isn't that big at this time...

Yeah it's infuriating.... Especially when the goalie is out of his crease. Should be fair game in that case

It might ruin the getzlaf, perry tandem in the summer I reverse my statement, no we do not need myers!

It could be a shortcut to getting a good player, if he could be had while his value is low. The Sabres are not the best team to play for right now, with their helter skelter lineup. They don't seem to play as a team. I think Myers needs structure in his game. Carlyle could do that.

The skaters will be good no question, but far and away the best? I'm not so sure.

Canadians need to realize that the rest of the world has caught up when it comes to hockey talent and their development leagues.

I think replace Smith with Ward, Fleury for me is a no go.

Fair enough, smith or ward, we're talking about a guy who prolly won't see game action

Edit: I agree 100% on MAF

So you like our team with Kostka, and the other 2 AHL callups? Myers could be the perfect partner for a player like Rielly or Gardiner.

Please stop with the Myers to the leafs stuff. It's not going to happen. He's just a young guy getting sat so he can watch a game from the box and regain his perspective. Buffalo is not looking to move him
