Terrible.

- Giroux_Is_God

Except they beat Ward 2x times and hit the post.. wouldn't go as far as to say terrible, just bad luck.

Look at this game alone, he is the #1 d-man.

His play shows he is a #1.

- ggunky

We disagree. I don't put him in that class anymore.

I don't know what is available but I just think that price is alittle high. I'm not disappointed in the Flyers for signing him to another year b/c he is a vaulable player just would of liked to see his deal alittle cheaper.
- stveshdy

We'd all like the price to be lower, but you're not likely to get a lower price, even if you trade for a guy.

complete waste of a major and 2 man advantage. such a bs interference call to "even" things up.

I agree. More frustrated than anything.

Their powerplay was good. Generated good pressure and chances and was organized but gahhhhhhh

Good teams bury at least one there. That's a must have.

I don't like the fact you sign him to $6M b/c of other options. He's a very solid defenseman but is getting older and doesn't command that type of money this late in his career IMO. I understand why they did it but it doesn't make it right.

Dont disagree but who is your viable replacement making less that brings the same level of leadership and eats minutes.

What other options are there? You keep mentioning these other options...what are they?

They could trade a ton of assets for a guy, they could sign another vet as a free agent, for close to the same money who won;t be as solid as Timonen, they could trade for a guy on an expiring contract and have to massively pay him next year and beyond, or they could sign somebody to an offer sheet, which will have to be an overpayment or it will be matched-and then they'll lose draft picks.

Is there an option I missed?

That's the job of the GM. I don't know who will be available. I'm not saying keeping Timonen is a bad move, I just think the $ is high.

So we are assuming there is no other option? So lets just sign him for $6M? Once again I'm not the GM so I can't say who will be available but their are always options. The Flyers have traded for Timonen, Coburn, Mez, Schenn, Grossmann etc. So its not like players can't be had.

So I would think our GM viewed the deal as worth it then which is why he made it.

crazy what happens when you get traffic and throw pucks at the net.. want to see it more often instead of working down low to guys on the goal line with horrible angles
