Actually agree with most of this

And frankly...I dont visit the Oilers blogs, so I couldnt say if Flames fans are as bad or not...but in here...they can be as homerish as they want, provided they are not slamming other peoples views/opinions.

Iggysbff has to admit that there are way more Edmonton trolls than Flame trolls. Heading the list is Clouts.

More Nuck and Leaf Trolls than anything else, but yes there certainly are Oil fans that I am not too proud of some days....

I think there is a big difference in that Calgary has some BIG parts that would be worth a lot in return. So if they actually tried, they could retool pretty quickly ala Ottawa. But the window on doing so is closing. If they wait too long they will be in the situation Edmonton was. And that is starting with virtually nothing.

Flames fans like to talk about a 6 year rebuild in Edmonton. That is not the case. After the 2006 cup run, they tried to make moves and get better but most of those turned out bad. The re-signing of Horcoff and Pisani, Penner deal, Smytty deal, Vanek offer, signing Souray etc, etc. After a couple years of trying that (It failed miserabley) that is when they decided to rebuild through the draft. So this is going into year 4 of that.

So both sets of fans are equally guilty of trolling the other. To say otherwise is also homerish...

How is trading your franchise player for prospects and picks anything but a rebuild?

From Spector, the biggest homer out there. How clueless you guys are is that you take a loser like Spectors word as gospel. Keep drinking the Kool aid!

I absolutely, 100% agree. This is THE year that they HAVE to make some moves to improve the future. Short pain for long term gain. Otherwise your right, it's an EDM rebuild, 3 or 4 years of solid draft positions. Then "IF" they draft solid players they have to develop them for at least a couple more.

Don't feel like reading an article, but I will say of all the media guys Spec has the balls to call players out from time to time. Whether it's eskimos, oilers, or whatever he will call out guys.

Everyone slams Columbus, but when I look at their roster and prospects plus the fact that they have 3 first round picks in a great draft year (all of which could be lotto eligible) They have a bright future. Calgary could be in a similar spot if they wanted to. I think Flames fans are going to be disappointed though. Knowing Flames ownership they will not allow a proper rebuild.

Youve gotta fight, for your right...to...not have trolls. It took me nearly 3 months to get a Flames ref. Every blog I'd write would be filled with Oiler fans commenting on how the Flames need to blow it up cause they suck the suck and it would escalate from there...meanwhile, all the blog talked about was the weather in Florida (if you catch my drfit).

Trading Iggy alone does not make it a rebuild IMO. Iggy is getting to the point where he doesn't really carry the mail anymore. Look at it this year, Backlund, Hudler, Wideman, JBo and even Stempniak are the guys pushing things. Yes, Iggy has been pretty good this year, despite his lack of scoring, but he can't be 'the guy' now. He needs the high ground and soft minutes to keep his #'s up.

funny how that comment was directed at Ryan Smyth being traded and that being a sign of a rebuild, but trading Iggy wouldn't be a sign of a rebuild

Edit: Because Iggy is clearly an elite talent, i don't think Smyth can be put in that catergory...

I suspect you move Iggy and Kipper you really jump start a rebuild with some solid assets.

Even Jbo, can't tell me that if Calgary picks up part of the contract that he doesn't get you a 1st+ back.

Some smart moves and it won't be much of a rebuild as much as it will be a re-tool.

I didn't say anything about Ryan Smith nor did I "direct" my comments about him. Maybe I just don't understand what you are saying here.

Uhhh. I think you were agreeing that just trading Iggy would not make it a rebuild, but scoot said trading Smytty obviously was. So I think SBO's comment was more directed at scoot than you...
