Don't get me wrong, I'm all for improving the team but I look at how insane and ridiculous peoples' reactions were last year when Nashville acquired Paul Gaustad. You would've thought they acquired Stevie Y in his prime. Best thing they can do is get a real #2 center and bump Bolland back down to the 3rd line center. That's where I want him come playoff time. - dan9189
Can Shaw be that guy? Not be a star, but fill it ably enough to allow Bolland to go back to Ratsville? |

Would rather have Iginla. I'm guessing he would be available too. That dude would solve some problems in a Cup run. - Return of the Roar
Possibly. Can Iginla keep up with the roadrunners when they get going, though? |

Excellent book about the Dust Bowl a couple of years ago - "The Worst Hard Time" - and Ken Burns' documentary on PBS a couple of months ago.
Frightening, frightening, and, yes, almost completely man-caused. - StLBravesFan
That's for the heads up on the book. Had not heard of it. Saw the PBS documentary. Excellent.

Crawford to start in Smashville and
Leddy wearing a bird cage today at practice after taking puck in the face vs Phx.

Yup. Just ask Pocket Rocket Richard and The Roadrunner Yvan Cournoyer how they felt about having John Ferguson taking names and numbers when somebody threatened them and then doing something about it.
Fergie would have sent Raffi Torres directly to the morgue, no stop necessary at the hospital. |

I could handle either of these guys
Food for thought
Tanquay is a Center and is 3.5 million a year
Iginla is a Winger and is 7 million a year

Iginla is UFA at the end of the season, Tanquay still has years left. A "One Goal" go for it all now attitude might find the latter more appealing. |

Thanks Phil for the update -- Leddy must have broken his beak after taking the puck off the face. Only reason I could imagine for the cage. Well, hopefully that won't impede the progress he's made this year.

Haha, how about across sports. Remember when this team went 49 games before losing...

Pretty much correct..
Some 1st ballot HOF players didn't light the world on fire their first few years. |

.....And that would mean No for Tanguay and at this point he is held together with Duck tape anyway.

Iginla to me could be a cheaper rental type of player. He is a UFA this spring and is or will be 35 years old.I don't see the Calgary organization selling him to the highest bidder, can see them moving him to allow him a kick at the cup. They will take something and than you will see him return to Calgary. What would be the cost to pick him up? |

As always, the hyperbole of trade targets begins with a practical comment and quickly spirals into insanity. Great to know so many fans out there are staying 3 steps ahead of the game. Have not heard about Getzlaff or Ryan in a day or so. Iginla...jeez debating merits and salary. It would be more relevant to debate who is tougher, superman or spiderman. |

I can see Matt Hendricks being a nice target. What do you give for him? C, wins draws, kills penalties, great skater, a little toughness, good on shoot outs. Injuries down the road will determine this. |

My knowledge of the league and these types of players is weak because I really only watch the Hawks play
Looking at u tube he is a rough and tumble player and he is deadly on the shoot out |

If the hawks do make a move and someone from the roster goes I would imagine Bickel or Frolik go the other way.......The salary for what he does just doesn't merit the cost. A team that's close would probably take him for the PK and depth. I do think with next being contract years for both Bolland and Hammer and them both do hefty raises after next year look for them to be moved in the off season for a draft picks, prospects, and one year left contract players. |

But teams will give to them....Bolland makes 3.3 and Hammer makes 3.5. I could see teams paying in the 5's for each of them. |

I can defnitely see hammer getting a nice raise if he goes to FA (little less if the hawks can work out a deal with him).. There is a premium on dmen. |

Sticking with Calgary, Matt Stajan...This year and next at $3.5? Lefty C, decent F/O guy. |

Pirri and Lalonde for Getzlaf and Ryan; how's that? Superman wins that one in a laugher.
I've only seen a couple of Caps games this year and wasn't really focusing on Hendricks but possibly the kind of guy they could look at.
I've seen posters on here looking for like 2 power forwards which is beyond a tall order. Those guys don't just grow on trees and it's not like teams are just looking to dump them.
Also, I don't think there is a lot needed; maybe tweaks. |
