word is he's not being shopped, but ya never know, another florida transplant might work out

I think the price for Weiss will be too high. I highly doubt PC will be willing to part with any roster players in a deadline deal. Unless he can be had for a lower level prospect and a pick, I don't see him in a Boston uniform. But i could be wrong.

Maybe take a look at Weiss?
- david22

Does he like playing wing? They have so many centers (natural) already.
Interesting Ty would say the Bruins are obsessed with Iginla, I had no idea they were. Kaberle I think we had an idea they really wanted him for some time.

Very true, hopefully PC has some magic up his sleeve. We could use some offensive help for the 3rd line.

Iginla would've been a Bruin two years ago if the asking price out of Calgary wasn't centered around Milan Lucic. Obviously things have changed, but he's still the captain of the Flames and price won't be cheap. It's a nice thought, but it probably won't happen.

Think guys like Ryder, Vinny Prospal, and Steve Sullivan would be more up their alley considering their needs would primarily focus in on adding a guy that can skate on the third line/fill in on the club's top-six if there's an injury. While it didn't doom 'em against Montreal, it's clear that Gregory Campbell isn't Brad Marchand, and that their depth on the wing is rather thin this year.

I had no clue about that, thanks for the response. I guess the bottom line is what Chiarelli pointed out, if there is something going on then they can at least get involved with a better cap position than before. Same for the Islanders I guess.

Saw a rumour PC was inquiring with Washington about Carlson. They'd still have to send salary back for future years I believe though.

There was a ton of Iginla obsession on the radio last night. Calgary needs to rebuild I can't imagine Caron and a pick gets that done. It's going to cost something significant. I think the first move the B's need to make is to fire Geoff Ward and bring in a coach that knows how to run a power play. With the amount of talent the B's have now there is no excuse for this.

I can't imagine the Flames ask Iginla to leave if they are anywhere near the playoffs. I can't imagine Iginla asking to leave if they are anywhere near the playoffs.

It should be interesting though, I'm sure management feels good enough about the team to try and add something. It will have to be a 1st rounder and a top prospect though, I don't see the Bruins offering too many current roster players.

Iginla's price will be a ransom, forget about him. I absolutely HATE Prospal and Always have since he was a Flyer NO If they can't get an impact player I say do nothing. would Love to upgrade that 3rd line spot but not for a Sullivan Type. Hey since were talking maybe ask Detroit what it would take to get Datsyuk, Power Play troubles Solved

That would be worth doing....
Bruins are in first place, trade deadline is months away, there is no pressure or rush to do anything.

the prodigal newfie will return. claude has a huge man crush for him, he knows the system and how to turn it on in the playoffs (paging david krejci), and can play on any of the top three lines.

b's would have gotten by the craps last year if chia would have resigned him in the first place.

Maybe Ryder didn't want to come back and play on the 3rd line and have to backcheck, but there is no doubt he played his best hockey in the 2011 playoffs.

Pretty sure he was offered a contract but opted for more dough and a bigger role in Dallas.

I agree, my backcheck comment was a little jab at Ryder but I have a feeling what you said is exactly what happened. He probably thought it was better for his career and who could blame anyone for that.

There probably is not a huge trade market especially with the cap going down next year so anyone who fits the criteria will be talked about to death.

Definitely, I think there will be a lot of those older vet UFA's being sold off as pure rentals this year. It's not usually PC's style (unless it doesn't pan out a la Kaberle) to do, but I think this could be a year we see it. That said its supposedly a deep draft this year so who knows, they may be less inclined to move picks.
