Super happy he got that big goal last night, and have been happy with his play this season. However, I have seen a small change in his game. In the past, it seemed his default move was to break down the wing, using his speed to push the D back. Then he would then cut towards the middle and shoot for the far side about 1.5' off the ice and just inside the post, as the goalie was moving to cut the angle on the short side. I have not seen that move much, if at all, this season. Instead, he has been attempting to go wide and shoot top shelf short side, and seems a bit more predictable.
Not sure if this means anything. Maybe RC has told him to stop cutting towards the middle, as it's a riskier play...or maybe it's a confidence thing, or maybe it's absolutely nothing. - vermie22

Random thoughts on Kessel.

been saying this all along
when kessel is scoring he cuts into the middle, takes the rub and shoots point blank
he has been taking too many shots from the perimeter.. and not getting them off fast enough. the goalies are coming out of their crease to challenge him and not giving him anything.
last night worked out because he trailed bozak and used him as a screen

MTL games are always a toss up. Plus it's in MTL so who knows what can happen.
Just looking at the standings last night, we really didn't gain much ground on anyone as all the teams around us won, and the ones that lost still got a point. - AngryWhiteMale
The loser point needs to go. Wins and losses and that's it. After the elimination of the tie, there is no need for it.
It was nice that we beat both Winnepeg and Washington in regulation. Just bury them early and don't look back. But the NYI game will haunt us.
need to start brain storming more about work. But designing/coding software for generating amortization schedules etc. just does not keep me riveted to my tasks.

yes I agree, just not sure if it is him, or RC telling him to use his speed to go wide, as it is a safer play.

Thats a team that I think won't have the legs to get through a full 48 games intact.
Perhaps next year they'll put it together, as they are improving, but i just don't think they're ready yet

OK, obviously I have too much time on my hands, but you will all benefit, so shut up and read and be happy.
Once upon a time, there was a trophy called the Molson Cup, which was awarded at the end of each month, and at the end of the season, to the Leaf (and other Canadian teams) who wracked up the most Molson three stars.
If I recall correctly, you got 15 points for 1st star, 10 points for 2nd star, and 5 points for 3rd star.
So who do you think currently leads the Molson Cup Three Stars Competition on the Leafs?
First person to guess wins an electronic copy of the Molson Cup - if I can find it on the internet.
Believe me, I'm well beyond the point of being offended.
My rant isn't for my benefit, but your own. There is no happiness in declaring yourself more brilliant than everyone else and operating under the assumption that everyone just has to catch up to your level.
The next step is that you start with the "sheep" and "Koolaid drinkers" and "blue and white goggles" stuff. It's not pleasant. - Leeman4Gilmour
