According to behindthenet.ca, the number's actually 2.88 per game. He's tied with Kulemin for the team lead in being on the ice for 10 goals against so far this year. Phaneuf's also been on the ice for only 3 goals so far this year...He's got the second worse +/- on/60 on the team next to Frazer McLaren!! - p_zub
You mean the guy with the most minutes on the team by far, playing with a career AHLer, against Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Richards, Gaborik, Nash, Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Tavares has been on the ice for the most goals against?
Tell me more.
Please, tell us about how you think Franson and Komisarek should be getting his ice-time.
Or maybe go full retard and suggest Rielly should be up here like some people. |

Quit being a drama queen
I'm happy as hell the Leafs won last night. I'm only saying Dion needs to play better, and I know he can because I've seen it. - Leafland
Im being a drama queen because im calling a spade a spade? Please cross your legs and relax a little.
Ive seen him playing well, and im saying ive seen him play well because he has played well. |

I find +/- to be mildly informative for forwards, but completely useless when evaluating defencemen. - Atomic Wedgie
I agree. It's just an easy and quick way to see whose on the ice for goals. |

Just chatted with Brian Burke who says after about a month of traveling engagements, he's going back to the rink. Will scout Marlies tomrw - faceto27
That's great - if the Leafs ever want to trade for a guy from the Marlies, and they can't get any of the Marlies' coaching staff on the phone to offer an opinion, Burke will be there to fill the void.
Must be nice to be able to score free tickets to Marlies games, go get drunk, get paid millions of dollars to do it, and not be told to get off your ass and get a job by your wife.
Oh, wait - the wife thingy is no longer a problem for Burkie. |

How can the number be 2.88 a game? The Leafs are averaging just under 3 goals against a game. So Phaneuf has been on the ice every goal scored against this season? - systemtool

according to the same site, Phaneuf has the highest quality of competition, with the 2nd lowest quality of teammates of all our teammates.
That being said, these stats seem a bit skewed, since the guy with lower quality of teammates is his d-partner. |

Its a junk website. I wouldnt lend any credibility to it.
Furthermore, stats arent a measuring stick for Dmen playing well. Which is why the theory has always been "the less you notice him, the better hes playing" |

I find +/- to be mildly informative for forwards, but completely useless when evaluating defencemen. - Atomic Wedgie
The fact he's on the ice for more goals against than goals for is pretty relevant when we have a goaltender pitching a 0.918 sv% because we can no longer blame poopting goaltending for inflating a defenceman's +/- numbers. Add to that, the fact he was on the ice for BOTH shorthanded goals against so far this year. My point here, and before, is that they are playing him way too much, and its reflecting poorly on his stats. How long did it take Carlyle to change up our powerplay after watching Kostka and Phaneuf pass it to one another across the blue line without any shots on goal? 4 games, 5 games? |

Oh, God. You're doing the UG.
Everything is a thinly veiled (or not so thinly veiled), backhanded compliment.
Witness the 20 pages of discussion after the game talking about how Kessel scoring the game winner tonight is more proof of how much he sucks.
Ask yourself if you want to be that guy. I guarantee you that Uggie lives a sad, miserable existence. I know that young people go through a phase where they like to call themselves "realists" and read Ayn Rand and think they've cracked the entire meaning of the universe.
But people who don't grow out of it become miserable old farts. |

Our defense group isn't structured such that we can have a 25+ min/night pairing. We need better balance across all three pairings because its clear we have other players that can contribute to the PP, PK, and ES in short burst. Fatigue shouldn't be an issue this early in the season, because it's only going to get worse going forward. |

Any Leaf season ticket holders or guys who've gone to a game this year. Just got tickets off stub hub for the gm against the Bruins on the 23rd. They say revised schedule Home Game 16. then say's to go visit MAPLELEAFS.COM to fill in game date & time.
Everything else looks legit. Just wondering if this is what the tickets look like this year? |
