This place is more insufferable after a win than a loss.
I expect the petulant whining and chirping after losses, but when so called fans of this team use every positive bit of news as an opportunity to female dog, the act gets old fast. - Leeman4Gilmour

Why you guys fall for it every time is beyond me, though.
If no one is paying attention, the trolling becomes pretty useless. |

Kessels value just went up.
A couple 50 goal seasons you might get to Luongo status.

I'm really impressed how Holzer's game has come around the more comfortable he gets in the NHL...he can be a solid 5-6 dman in the future. Franson looks like he's here to stay as well. |

I have tempered enthusiasm when it comes to the leafs this year. The talent is limited, and Carlyle is doing a good job. As long as they keep to his system, they can be competitive |

I really hope that RC keeps Franson on the PP, the first unit. His shot is perfect for the PP. Hard and low. As opposed to someone else I won't mention. In fairness to the other, he still is our best defenseman. He ain't worth no 6.5 million, but he is a very good defensemen. Just a bad point shot. |

Considering no Lupul or Gardiner they are doing very well IMO...everyone else in NHL knows that its just a matter of time before the Leafs start to really roll |

I still think Franson has top 4 potential. yup, i said it.
Liles and Phanuef are more of a concern with their sporadic, inconsistent play.
The leafs need a stabilizing force paired with phanuef for next season, you can see what happened to both Suter and Weber without each other. Phanuef needs a shut down d partner so he can spread his wings a bit.

Its actually quite amazing where they are, considering that they've had limited offense from 5 of their top players. Kessel, Lupul, Grabo, Phaneuf and Gardiner.

Phaneuf's being overused right now...doesn't have the conditioning to be a 25 min/night player. He starts to float on his shifts 5 min into the game, and his +/- is starting to reflect that... |

Anyone else think Liles may be compliance buyout material after this season? His passing and offensive awareness has been pretty bad this year, and his defense is worse than his offense. Considering the looming drop in the cap, and the growing list of capable replacements in the bottom pairing (Holzer, Blacker, Rielly, Fraser, other UFA), we're paying him way too much to be a minimal presence on the team.

he looks completely lost.....i agree, we have far cheaper options to plug the 5,6 holes but you gotta think Liles is gonna snap out of it at some point...right? |

For his sake, and the teams, I hope so. When he was on his game, he was a dangerous offensive presence. It looks to me now that the concussion has slowed his decision making to the point where he's now a second behind the play (reactive) instead of seeing the play in advance (proactive). I hope the same doesn't happen to Gardiner, but the AHL is the right place for him to regain his confidence. |
