Name the post expansion team that's satisfied with never making the cup finals and never having won a presidents trophy.

1. Toronto

San Jose has won a president's trophy and the other 3 aren't satisfied.

The fact of the matter is that both the Leafs and Canucks have been losers for over 40 years. We're able to admit that. For some reason Vancouver fans keep clinging to regular season success and two finals appearances. Why is that?

Can someone explain why all the Leafs young players get stuck with crappy jersey numbers? Do the Leafs have a certain protocol or something? The last young guy I remember getting his number was Luke Schenn...Nazem Kadri #43? Think he'd look like a more dynamic player with a more offensive number, it's kind of like giving a WR number 55. Frattin 39, Kulemin 41, Bozak 42, Kadri 43, Komarev 47, Gardiner 51, Kostka 53, Holzer 55....Whats the deal?

No there isn't. It's also not the CFL on skates anymore.

You'll have to forgive the Leafs for being a cornerstone of the NHL and actually having enough people to support a hockey team for well over 90 years. The fact that there were 6 teams doesn't invalidate anything. Relatively speaking, it's all the league could support and Vancouver wasn't a part of it.

How many people do you know that remember the Roman Empire?

Any people you know who deny it ever existed?

Low numbers are (supposed to be) reserved for special players. We don't really have any.

Kadri has enough pressure and scrutiny on him as it is, could you imagine what it would be like if he was skating around with 13 on his back?

Lets talk about modern hockey. How many Cups have Vancouver won? That's an easy question, right?

You're in a Leaf thread. If you dont want a team with history, the Blue Jackets thread is down the hall.

Is that with just the Leafs? Or is that usually how it is? Just think it would give the team more of an identity having players with normal numbers, not scrub numbers. It gives a minor league feel, I don't know maybe it's just me, but I think Gardiner, Kulemin, and Kadri would look like more legit players instead of wearing pretty much plug numbers.

You must not know that Rome still exists today.

But you certainly don't hear any Gauls bragging about the empire they never had.

Actually, I think it's more of a rule with other clubs than with the Leafs which is a shame. Raycroft wearing #1 was a disgrace. Komisarek wearing #8 isn't a whole lot better. But until the Leafs start retiring numbers this is going to continue to happen.

Yeah, only had to win 2 playoff rounds. They'd have to award 4 cups a year these days.

In 1945 the Pacific Coast Hockey League established an ice hockey franchise in the city of Vancouver. Known as the Canucks, they immediately enjoyed success by winning PCHL championships in their first (1946) and third (1948) years of existence. In 1952, the PCHL merged with the Western Canada Senior Hockey League to form the professional Western Hockey League.

The Canucks would go on to win the President's/Lester Patrick Cup in 1958, 1960, 1969, and 1970.

Okay okay you won 6 championships......
